This band has not put out a great album since Coming Home, IMO. Funny how I felt so alone to be in love with that record when it came out, and I now can't seem to get through a New Found Glory thread without nearly everybody praising it. That being said, I didn't hate Radiosurgery, but wayyyy more songs missed than landed for me.
I think I like Coming Home so much because it felt like a complete thought... Not Without a Fight and Radiosurgery were more about the individual songs than the sound of the record as a whole. They didn't really have much direction other than "make an album that sounds like Sticks and Stones and make sure the songs are fun live."
I hope it's nothing like their other albums. I hate it when people say that they want a band's new album to sound like one of their older albums. Progression is necessary or else it just gets boring for everyone
No, but really. It was an incredibly solid record. Much, much better than Not Without A Fight. Catchiest songs they've ever written. It just wasn't the hardcore-influenced record that people were expecting.
Couldn't agree more with every word you said here. Album rules. Some of the catchiest songs they've ever had. Neal Avron is amazing.
