I think I don't understand how drm works completely, but if you bought music from on there and then burned it onto a cd, and could you then upload it onto any computer? Or would you have to reauthorize (or in this case be out of luck)?

Yes you could do that. But if you bought a ton of music, that process would suck ass.

You could burn it to a CD (not as mp3s though) and then re-rip it, but you'll be left with mp3s that are of sub-par quality.


My thoughts exactly. If enough people are left in the dust with this changeover, MS will likely have to turn the servers back on for some amount of time or pay out some class action settlement. Regardless, this is just further proof that music distributors need to do things right the first fucking time.
