just an fyi, indie and post-rock are not the same thing. And I wouldn't say this album falls into either category.

I do realize that they are different genres, but I would say they are closely related. I think of stuff like Explosions in the Sky when I think of post-rock. The point I was trying to make is that this album would have still made sense without Choi's vocals because of how smooth and enjoyable the music itself was. "Indie" is such a vague genre that different people consider different things as such. What would you classify this as?

pop-rock. I like the point you're making about the strength of the instrumentals, and I agree that indie is a woefully vague genre, but that and post-rock are still nowhere close to each other. Most post-rock bands are on indie labels. But most indie bands are not post-rock. It's still a fairly small genre.

yeah I could definitely see how this would be considered pop-rock. I just find this so much better than your average pop-rock album that I feel that it should be considered something else entirely if that makes sense...that's just my view on it.

I never understood why side projects always sound so similar to a band's original work. Isn't the point of doing your own thing to have more "artistic freedom?" That kind of defeats the purpose of having all that freedom in the first place. Not that the music is bad or anything. I just wish there was a bigger change in direction, that's all.

I definitely do agree with you. It doesn't make much sense to me either, but for some reason I really like this project and do not care too much for DLD. I know the styles are similar, but something about Wolftron is different. I notice an atmospheric tone in the solo project that I never sensed in the DLD songs that I heard.
