That's awesome, man. I'm really glad you liked it. I totally agree with your 'trendy' statement. He's definitely on the cusp of absolutely blowing up, from what I'm hearing. He has a second brand-new special coming out later this year, it's pretty crazy how prolific he is currently.
As far as other new comedy that I'm into, check any of these out:
Mike Lawrence - Sadamantium
Dave Anthony - Shame Chamber
Chris Hardwick - Mandroid
Eugene Mirman - An Evening of Comedy in a Fake, Underground Laboratory
Kyle Kinane - Whiskey Icarus
Those are like the 'high profile' releases (I've got a longer list complete with lesser-known stuff that I'm putting together for a mid-year type feature). Also, if you're feeling ambitious still, the new season of Comedy Central's The Half Hour has been airing down here the past few months. It's basically the new iteration of Comedy Central Presents, and there's been a handful of great episodes of that too.
I've got no complaints about another special coming this year, especially if it is the same caliber as this one.
Thanks for all the recommendations. I didn't realize that Kinane album was so recent, I grabbed it earlier in the year when I was binge downloading. I'm familiar with Eugene Mirman's work, but haven't gotten to his latest, so I'll probably get on that first.
