It's official: Kanye West's new album "Yeezus" debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 327,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's the biggest week for a rap album since Drake's "Take Care" arrived with 631,000 at No. 1 in November of 2011.
On first thought I thought it would be higher, but thinking about it, considering he did no real promo - except apparition videos - had no single, album art, pre-orders...anything, I'd have to say no one else could put up those numbers under those conditions. Impressive. The man is a genius.
Depends how they count the promo thing with Shitsung.
yeah like Jake said I'm 99% certain the Samsung stuff isn't going to count. But the majority of Americans have iPhones anyways and even Samsung users/Jay-Z fans will pick it up on CD or whatever. I don't think it'll sell much more than Kanye, but he's never sold less than 400k copies of an album since 1998's Vol.2 which moved 350k first week. So basically his last 8 records have sold 400k+ first week haha.
Though i doubt none of you will agree, i think J.Cole's new album is an instant classic! While Yeezus, though different and interesting, just doesnt have alot of replay value to me (though "Im In It" is my jam)
