Posted by: Joe DeAndrea (07/10/13)
Jay-Z is expected to sell between 450-500k copies of his new album, Magna Carta... Holy Grail, in the first week, which will make it his 13th number one album on the Billboard 200 chart.

"Magna Carta" should easily give Jay-Z his lucky 13th No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, extending his record as the solo act with the most No. 1 albums in chart history. Only the Beatles, with 19 chart-toppers, have had more leaders."

^ Impressive. Wonder if he will top them.

I'm guessing the official number from this week be 1 million via Samsung plus the 400-500k he sells?

I'd be he does, as long as the current structure of how the carts works holds up.

Came into say the same exact thing. Strong opening track, then it just goes way down hill.

jay-z is tha god of hip-hop, don't care how many "shitty" albums he's dropped. the longevity, relevance, cultural impact, business impact and the fact that he has RD, blueprint and black album under his belt.

GOAT.

and for an album that got bagged on a lot 3 days before its release date, he's moving a hell of a lot of units. kanye's album was praised and he almost lost to j. cole. neither album had any single or video. a lot of the actual hip-hop community (including many artists) like MCHG.

You guys are crazy! To praise Yeezus so much and shit on this album just really baffles me. Jay Z definitely had the stronger album, in my opinion. That's all it is, an opinion. But I have the exact opposite feeling of the two albums
