Gatherer are awesome. Really, really enjoyed this album. The thing I am liking about this 'new' wave of hardcore (defeater, la dispute, these guys) is how lush and soft the guitar can sound at one time then brutally heavy the next. The variance in dynamics some of these bands produce is what really gets me.

Having referred to these bands as the new 'wave' I'm getting a very strong At The Drive in sound in the vocals from Gatherer (currently on what if I can't)

I saw Northern Faces in the Say Anything/Eisley tour. I listened to the Southern Places EP a bunch since then.

these are organized by like sound and style generally over four parts right? I think I remember that's how its done and the later parts always get way more interesting.

have mercy and departures are definitely my favorites of the ones i've heard already. though in my opinion departures' last album, though good, didn't touch "when losing everything is everything you wanted." now that was a mind blowing album

Have Mercy and Polyenso have put out incredible debut albums so far this year.

I'm about to listen to Old Gray, as well as Dowsing, Modern Baseball, and Tiny Moving Parts.
