Melbourne’s High Tension (featuring members of The Nation Blue and Young & Restless) have announced the release of their debut album Death Beat. The album was recorded with Tom Larkin of Shihad fame behind the boards and will see an October 25 release through Cooking Vinyl Australia. Iron Mind have signed to Resist Records and will release their second album through the label later in the year. The Melbourne band are currently working on the follow-up to 2011’s Hell Split Wide Open with producer Mike Deslandes (Coerce, Robotosaurus) at the helm.

Clowns’ upcoming album I’m Not Right is now available to pre-order on LP and CD here. The album will see an October 10 release through Poison City.

Monolith RecordsLochlan Watt and filmmaker Wilson Bambrick are currently crowdfunding a documentary film for the upcoming Australian tour by Japan’s Palm and Gold Coast/Melbourne outfit A Secret Death. The film’s bare minimum target was reached within 24 hours with over a month still left to donate. Check out a trailer on the project’s Pozible page here.

Calling All Cars have released their new single Werewolves online here. The track is the first official single to be lifted from the band’s upcoming album with details to be announced soon. The band have also announced a tour to coincide with the single, dates can be found below.

Newcastle’s Safe Hands have recruited Isaac Gibson (Tired Minds) as their new drummer. Gibson takes over from longtime member Ben Sanderson who left the band last month. The band have also been added to the Queensland dates of the upcoming Rolo Tomassi tour which you can find below.

In the ARIA Album Charts this week, Nine Inch NailsHesitation Marks debuted strongly at #3, The Paper Kites came in at #17 with States and Volcano Choir’s latest Repave landed at #27. Check out the full Top 50 here.

Armidale’s Fresh Nelson released their debut EP Waver this week. The six-track release was recorded at Tommirock Studios, Newcastle by Mitta Norath (One Vital Word, Endless Heights). You can stream the whole thing and pick up a physical copy here.

The planned UK Subs tour for next month has been cancelled with promoters hoping to reschedule dates in the future. Refunds are available from point of purchase.

According to a statement from promoters, annual New Year’s Eve festival Pyramid Rock will not be going ahead this year due to financial woes.

Volcano Choir will be playing the upcoming 2013 Harvest festival according to a TripleJ radio interview with Justin Vernon. The band joins an already huge lineup including Massive Attack, Neutral Milk Hotel and Desaparecidos. An official second announcement is expected soon.



Stolen Violins, the solo project from former The Middle East vocalist Jordan Ireland, will be hitting the road this month in support of his debut LP Temperate Touch, Tropical Tears.

The National have announced a second Sydney date for their upcoming Australian tour in 2014. The show will take place on February 8 at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt and tickets are on sale now.


Sydney instrumental act Dumbsaint released a clip this week in the form of a short film for a new track entitled The Auteur. Fans of Isis and early This Will Destroy You will definitely find something to enjoy here. You can purchase the single along with two remixes here.
