Amazon Infographic Outlines Vinyl Sales

Posted by - 11:40 AM on 09/13/13
Amazon.co.uk has released a pretty cool infographic analyzing vinyl tastes, trends, and sales from the last few years - check it out in the replies. Some notable stats: Daft Punk's Random Access Memories is not only Amazon.co.uk's vinyl best-seller of 2013, but their best-seller since 1999. Also, rock music accounted for 55.6% of vinyl listening in 2012, compared to 44.3% in 2004; dance music saw the most drastic drop, falling from 18.9% of all vinyl to 3.9%. Interesting stuff.

That's a really cool graphic.

Crazy that Daft Punk is such a big seller considering it's expensive as hell.

I think being international and being from a genre that has sold well for years helps a lotttttt.

I do like seeing that it's making such a large come back.

Those Daft Punk sales don't surprise me much. It is expensive, but their following is RIDICULOUS! Including myself because I bought one. It's just so damn catchy...

Seeing the huge range in genres of these sales, it certainly shows that this isn't just a 'fad' that will die away next year, like I hear a lot of people saying

I'm glad this comeback is having lasting power. Collecting records has become one of my favorite hobbies, and it would really suck for it die out because it wasn't "cool" anymore.
