As speculated last week, the upcoming edition of the Harvest festival has indeed been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. A number of the acts scheduled to perform will still tour Australia around the festival dates with announcements due to be made soon. The news comes just days after Soundwave Touring head AJ Maddah was confirmed as having bought a stake in the Big Day Out festival from original promoter Ken West.

Wollongong’s Mary Jane Kelly have resurfaced after a lengthy period of inactivity. The band have plans to reissue their 2010 debut album Like There’s No Tomorrow with new mixing and mastering before heading into the studio to work on new material. Sydney’s Caulfield have joined Halfcut Records for the release of their upcoming debut album Vanity. The album is due November 8 and is the follow-up to 2010’s Clarity In A Sea Of Confusion EP.

Listen to a new track from The Bennies entitled Anywhere You Wanna Go here. Their upcoming second album Rainbows In Space is slated for a November 8 release through Poison City Records and the band have announced a run of dates in support which you find detail for below.

Lincoln Le Fevre has joined the already impressive lineup for the inaugural Boonanza event on September 28 at Melbourne’s Reverence Hotel. Head to the official event page for full details. This week saw the release of Le Fevre’s split 7” with Jen Buxton which you can stream in full here.

Last weekend’s Defqon.1 dance festival has been under scrutiny during the week after a drug related death and 87 arrests marred the proceedings.

The Smith Street Band have started a photo diary to document their current international touring which you can check out here. The band are currently in Europe and are set to follow that with shows in the US and Canada in support of Frank Turner.

Members of In Name And Blood, The Omen and Bear Witness have joined forces in a new powerviolence outfit named Caged Grave. The band’s new 8-song demo EP is up for pay-what-you-want download here.

Melbourne’s Have/Hold will release their new 7” Song For Bill Of The Trains/Dexamphetamine Blues in October through Midnight Funeral. The double a-side is available to pre-order here and you can listen to the track Dexamphetamine Blues here. The band have also announced some dates in support of the release which you can find below.

The 2014 Future Music Festival lineup has been announced, with Deadmau5, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Phoenix topping the bill. Head here for full details.

The Butterfly Effect have released their first single with new vocalist Paul Galagher. You can listen to Eyes Down here. Galagher replaces longtime vocalist Clint Boge who departed the band last year.

Sydney’s Forever Ends Here and Newcastle’s Trophy Eyes have been announced as national supports for Neck Deep’s upcoming Australian tour. For a reminder of the dates head here.

Perth’s Chainsaw Hookers released a video this week for the track Party Man which you can check out here.

Melbourne’s The Spinning Rooms are set to release their second album in as many years at the end of the month. The album is titled Complicating Things and will see a release through Every Night Is A Saturday Night Records on September 27. Production on the record was again handled by Tom Lyngcoln of The Nation Blue and Harmony fame and Mikey Young of Eddy Current Suppression Ring. Check out a clip of the band performing a new song entitled Julia here and check out their upcoming tour dates below.

Sydney’s New Empire have released a video for the track Say It Like You Mean It which you can check out here. The song comes from the band’s upcoming album In A Breath and you can find tour dates in support below.

Adelaide hardcore act Starvation will joint-release their self-titled debut album through Clarity Records and Lethal Dose Records on November 22. Take a listen to a track from the album entitled Vultures here and head here to pre-order on CD and LP.

Melbourne’s Kashmere Club recently released their new EP Lost & Sound and you can now stream and purchase the whole thing here. The release was produced by The Living End vocalist/guitarist Chris Cheney.

Twin Forks, the new outfit of Chris Carrabba, will join City And Colour on select dates of their upcoming Australian tour. Head here for details.
