When the tour came through here at the end of last month, Knaye showed up forty-five minutes late for his set and didn't say a personalized word to the crowd. It was almost like being at a stage play or something, because he was only interacting with the computer thing.
He still put on a good show, and still managed to make the crowd go nuts, but it seems like it's a pretty rehersed act with no place for audience interaction.
I'm going to guess 3/5 of the people that posted never actually read the article, where it clearly shows that Pearl Jam's 3 hour set didn't help matters. Not blaming Pearl Jam, but thats shitty on the Bonaroo stage staff that they are inept at putting up stages.
That sucks. Kanye definitely is a talent and a great rapper, but that's just not right. This is why, everytime somebody I know knocks the scene, I always come to its defense. It's not just about the music here, it's also heavily about the relationship between artist and fan, and in the scene it's a much closer bond than most other places. Even when bands blow up, like Fall Out Boy, they still have a strong dedication and appreciation of their fans, and you don't see that in other genre's of music.
