I've heard it reported that this is old footage, but honestly the whole not-speaking-to-each-other thing seems manufactured. I mean, if you wrote an album of smoldering love songs for your debut, changing it up for a second album forces the introduction of lyrical tension. What better way to demonstrate that tension than to dramatically reveal your album was made while neither songwriter was willing to speak to each other? Just looks like a publicity move to me.

Not to take away from the music, though, which is still just as good if not improved.

Old footage. I believe they were shooting a documentary for the making of this album and put this together.

That would be a long, long con. Especially for them not to speak to each other to promote it or even look at each other at the Grammys. I just don't think that's possible. I believe their marriages were in trouble by how close they were and they needed to step away from that.

That would be the worst publicity move ever considering by how much they have lost in potential concert revenues.

That is an incorrect reading of the situation.

Doubt it was that. Their manager is her husband. I think it was more related to her being pregnant and prob not wanting to be on the road and such w a newborn. John prob felt abandoned by that because there's no civil wars w out her and taking her away from group means messing the money/work flow.

True. I hadn't thought about it from that perspective.
