Today marks the 10th anniversary of Elliott Smith's death. I know there are many fans ranging from utterly devoted to casual around here so take a moment to post your thoughts and favourite tracks in the replies and remember his amazing life in music. Rest in peace.
"angeles" was definitely one of the first songs that i heard and just had to hear again. i ripped it off whatever radio show i heard it on (onto a cassette tape) and then put that tape into one deck and another blank tape into another deck and ripped it back to back on a whole cassete side.
I think it also bares mentioning how prolific he was as a song writer. His songs are imperfectly perfect because he was mindful of the art he was making and less with how perfect the pitch needs to be. And it's because of that that we have such a wonderful body of work to remember him by. RIP Elliott Smith
Unbelievable talent that was lost way too young. His last album shows how promising of a career he was heading towards, even with the accomplished albums he already had. If I had to choose my Top 10 songs they'd be(in no particular order)
Needle In The Hay
In The Lost And Found
Somebody That I Used To Know
Son Of Sam
