Kickstarter: RecordsOnWalls

Posted by - 04:29 PM on 12/09/13
Looking for a different way to display your records, but still be able to access them to play? Check out this Kickstarter from the aptly named "Records On Walls."
In 2010, I came up with the idea for Records On Walls. My educational background wasn't in design or manufacturing, but I wouldn't let that stop me. I was obsessed with producing this invention, convinced that it solved the problems I was having with displaying my record collection.

After several design iterations and prototypes, I developed the first version of Records On Walls, and started shipping them from my basement to North American customers. Although feedback for the product was great, there was still room for improvement and its time for a new iteration of the frame that can be universally used.

This is a great idea.

The whole idea that Vinyl sounds better than CD is a bit bullshit but the size of vinyl undeniably gives it an edge visually.
I'd probably get into vinyl and grab my favorite release of the year every year on vinyl and display and listen to it like this.

Pretty simple yet awesome idea. If only I collected or listened to records. I'd be all over this.

Surprised this is the first time I've heard of an idea as simple as this. Serves its function, though. Hope it gets funded.

I got a bunch of these for Christmas a couple years ago, and they are awesome. I can certainly think of a couple of ways they could be improved, but I'm very happy with them. My previous and current apartment both have long hallways in them, so I have most of them lining that hallway, and then one above the turntable to hold the album that's playing.

Here's their store: http://www.recordsonwalls.com/order/

I assume ordering now means you'll get the non-revised version of the frames.

Two things that sold me on this concept:

1. He has both The Clash's 'London Calling' and Young Widows' 'In and out of Youth and Lightness' -- clearly a dude who appreciates good music and doesn't limit himself to eras or trends.
2. "Big business bad, babies good!"

I just frame the jacket and leave the LP in the polybag for playing. But these are cool.
