I appreciate that he was booked at Gov Ball so I will either have a bathroom/food break OR it will be one less conflict to deal with. Will also keep the insufferable shitheads that like him away from sets that I'd like to see (Spoon, TV On The Radio, Interpol, etc.)

Does anyone have an article or video that discusses what guys like this actually do while onstage? I know the joke is always that they're just playing solitaire or something but would be very interested what is actually done during a live electronic show, other than the lighting and visual effects.

The Deadmau5 article? It's on his blog, somewhere.

Yes, they push buttons then they're paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for doing so. But everyone knows that EDM shows are glorified light shows; news to no one.

Skrillex actually does a lot of scratching at his shows, and doesn't just push play on a computer.

There you go.

EDM DJ's aren't dumb. Most of them are great in-studio producers who acknowledge that live shows are the most effective way to get their name and music out there. Most of them aren't brilliant milt-instrumentalists either. Their onstage work is limited to their laptop and DJ booth. When your music is based mostly out of a laptop, of course the performance looks lazier when compared to full bands.

Hmm. No Chicago date.

Means he is either playing lolla, pitchfork, or riot fest (call me crazy on this last one, but I can see it happening)
