Apparently Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (The Mars Volta) have buried the hatchet and formed a new band - Antemasque. They've also recruited former Mars Volta member Dave Elitch on drums and the legendary Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass. You can watch a short teaser video in the replies.
"Revealed earlier today via shortcrypticvideos; producer Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has teamed up with long time collaborator Cedric Bixler-Zavala (both men of Mars Volta and At The Drive In fame) on a new project with former Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch and the legendary Flea on bass. The new band, ANTEMASQUE, has been hunkered down in the studio and Volcom is proud to be able to present a longer look behind-the-scenes of the band recording their debut song, "4AM". Follow ANTEMASQUE on Twitter for an announcement soon regarding the official release of "4AM"."
From the Volcom page, guess a new song will be out soon.
Beyond stoked, love everything about this - plus Elitch is insane on the kit.
Looks like they're doing/did this at the Boat, a great studio in Silverlake that used to be the Dust Brothers HQ & a commercial studio (Cat Power, Anberlin, and Garbage recorded there) before Flea bought it a few years back.
