Pretty disappointing release for me: Strong verses lead into weak, predictable (and lyrically poor) choruses, sequencing feels really awkward and full of filler, lyrical topics are meh, and all the songs blend together.

Came away let down from an album I was pretty excited to check out.

Curious to hear other thoughts.

ITunes streams are the worst. I can probably just wait a week to listen. Songs they've released so far have been a little disappointing so I hope this isn't too much of a letdown.

bummed to hear that. I went into Picture Show with low expectations because I find bands like that have a hard time following up their great first releases and the Picture show was even better. So now I had higher expectations for this one...

since the release of their first single from this album, i was let down. a very mediocre, mid-tempo first single off of a new album is always a bad idea. i might listen to this once or twice eventually though to see if my mind changes, but none of the songs they've released so far excited me enough to care about an even a free full album stream.

Haven't listened but I still can't figure out why their tour manager thought they could headline the 5500-capacity Summerstage here in the city.

Yikes. Had to turn it off halfway through Text Me In The Morning. Such a shame - this band used to write really smart pop songs.

Correction: Tim Pagnotta (Sugarcult) used to write them really smart pop songs.

Standout for me is "Unavoidable." But this album is just boring and predictable. They needed to switch it up for this release but failed to do so.

You continually shock me with how completely polar opposite we think on virtually everything musical. I don't know how this could be remotely believed ... I could understand liking it but to think it's quantifiably their best work (let alone "by far") is mind blowing.

i loved picture show but that was the album that had a lot of filler. still young, mad love, lessons in love, and everybody talks were the best on that. but the choruses on this record are better than anything they've done. and the drummer (im guessing its her) singing on unavoidable is sooooooo good. this is everything i've wanted from them since habits
