"The Definitive Emo Playlist"

Posted by - 11:45 AM on 04/19/14
This has to be the first time Matchbook Romance have been included on a playlist since Thomas was trying to woo girls with his mixtapes, but our friends at WashedUpEmo has put together the "definitive emo playlist" for Billboard.
Tom Mullen, director, digital marketing at Legacy Recordings/Sony Music, has taken the Executive Playlist to a whole other level--albeit a completist Emo level. Here, with 312 songs spanning 19 hours and 43 minutes of angsty melodicism ranging from Texas is the Reason to Taking Back Sunday to Pinback and beyond, this intense compilation culled from his WashedUpEmo.com blog will leave you exhilarated and perhaps by its end emotionally spent.

Definitely agree with all the above comments. And not sure why New Found Glory is included...

Also, maybe I missed it but no Copeland? I mean, come on, nothing from Beneath Medicine Tree?

Yeah, I'm with you there. I feel like they were one of the few pop-punk bands of the early 2000s who didn't really have much of that emo influence in their sound.

Were any of the 80s emocore bands (Rites of Spring, Embrace, Fire Party, etc.) included? I didn't notice any but i scrolled through it quickly.

Nice having The Saddest Landscape included. Could of gone with more "skramz" of that nature and less NFG/Midtown/Thrice..

Though the playlist is missing some (what I consider) essential bands, it's pretty solid. Definitely something I can listen to at work for a few hours.

Pretty solid.

Kind of surprised they included such recent Mae and yet (as mentioned earlier) no Copeland.

Also, would have liked to see The Dangerous Summer' get a nod for something off RFTS.
