Noisey Interviews Fred Durst; Premieres New Film

Posted by: Drew Beringer (06/24/14)
Noisey published a really interesting interview with Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst. The site also premiered his new film The Truth. I recommend it.
Iím a simple person. Iím just me. Iím no more special than anybody. I think people are like, ďWhatís so special about that fuckiní guy? Nothing! He gets on my fuckiní nerves!Ē I go, ďWell, I get on my nerves too. What the hell am I doing here? What happened?Ē Itís crazy. I just have some stories inside of me that I need to tell. I feel compelled to put them out and to give them away, for people to react to. It seems like everything I do, meaning finds me later.

Band gets a lot of undeserved hate. Fred might not be the greatest lyricist or vocalist, but he does what he does well. Wes Borland and Sam Rivers are INSANELY underrated musicians.

I had the chance to meet Fred Durst backstage at a festival and he was just the most humble, down-to-earth guy. Of course people never believe me when I tell them that. Maybe some more people will believe it when they read this interview. He truly is a completely different person than the "character" he played during the early 2000s (and that he still plays when he's onstage these days).
He is just happy with what he has and has a lot of fun touring the world songs that were popular 15 years ago. It's amazing how he didn't get cynical with all the hate that this band gets.

I also really like the idea that Limp Bizkit is just satire of macho culture. I always thought it was obvious that the band never took their music seriously, right down to the album covers. I distinctly remember an interview after the band broke up where Fred said that he doesn't even listen to nu metal.

Limp Bizkit also has an amazing rythm section. And everybody knows how great of a guitarist Wes Borland is.
