I had the chance to meet Fred Durst backstage at a festival and he was just the most humble, down-to-earth guy. Of course people never believe me when I tell them that. Maybe some more people will believe it when they read this interview. He truly is a completely different person than the "character" he played during the early 2000s (and that he still plays when he's onstage these days).
He is just happy with what he has and has a lot of fun touring the world songs that were popular 15 years ago. It's amazing how he didn't get cynical with all the hate that this band gets.
I also really like the idea that Limp Bizkit is just satire of macho culture. I always thought it was obvious that the band never took their music seriously, right down to the album covers. I distinctly remember an interview after the band broke up where Fred said that he doesn't even listen to nu metal.
Limp Bizkit also has an amazing rythm section. And everybody knows how great of a guitarist Wes Borland is.
