Four dudes who seem to remember that time in the 90’s when “emo” was a hybrid of alternative and punk ... and when “alternative” and “punk” were good things.
How is it?
Their Myspace tag declares them “A band for none and all,” but I’d say you could drop the “none” part. It doesn’t matter what genre a person is coming from, he/she could probably get into the crazy yell along catchiness of ... well, every one of these tracks. Not only is their 'musical influence' section jam-packed with everyone who ever ruled this area of music (Cap’n Jazz, Hot Water Music), but they’ve included a 'lyrical inspiration' paragraph that’s all authors and ... Morrissey.
I’m sure I lost you when I started talking about Morrissey, but what’s important is that there’s nothing questionable, nothing filler, nothing to subtract from this impressive debut. Surely, this is a group who is going places. Keep that in mind if you were worried about a band whose name, album title, and two songs include exclamation points - there's nothing top Panic! about.
