JT Woodruff of Hawthorne Heights has written about the problems of the music industry and the solutions to fix them. In the replies, vote for which problem is the worst and which solution would help the most.
sounds like he's bitching because new bands are getting the A&R love he wants for this "seasoned, not young " band, he was signed as a trend young band when they were, now they have a third album and they arent getting the support, look at the numbers, at least people are buying video game songs, i hate it, but it is a way of getting people paid
i agree. personally, i agree what he says about developing bands. at first, i liked finding a lot of bands that had a similar sound. now it's rather ridiculous. bands just don't get the support they need these days. and although thats attributed to a lot of factors, i think one of the main reasons is because labels don't focus on what they have.

I am actually pretty happy where I am. This isn't meant to be bitching at all. I just wanted to know how everyone on this site feels about the music industry. And I miss the times when people wanted a full record, with the album art.
i dont think the 2nd problem is necessarily that big. sometimes it's good that a label like drive thru catches a band when they are young, and sends them into the studio with a decent producer and enough time to get the best out of them, therefore i think this is a big plus for the music industry. im sure both new and old bands can be accounted for.
however JT, with the other points you have really hit the nail on the head.
good to hear from you dude.
yeah I kinda agree with all 3 problems and all 3 solutions...
mind you, sometimes I just can't wait for the new single/album to be released or may not be able to purchase CDs of some bands that aren't internationally recognised where I am so occassionally resort to file sharing - such was the case for Fragile Future I'm afraid to say, but I did go and purchase the physical copy when it was released (and had to demand the store here order a single copy specially for me since they'd never heard of HH)
He's one of the bands that he mentions. If some of these solutions were put into action his band would be nowhere. I think putting songs on games is great nowadays because some games using good music that isnt the mainstream leading young people to seek out these bands. Matchbook romance on GUitar Hero. I think that works.
