For all the stories about various military-related persons being "bad people", there's millions of amazing people serving our country right now and in times past. Being born on this incredible day, I always kind of feel like it is an extra duty of mine to educate people on respect for the men and women who give their lives for their country.
Bruce Springsteen expressed amazing themes related to our veterans with this song, even if most people don't understand the meaning and see it as a purely pop song about blind patriotic faith.
It was absolutely disgusting the treatment that many veterans received during that era, and I am glad our country better handles the situation of unjust/wrongly fought wars by blaming the real culprits: the political leaders who hide behind six thousand miles of land and ocean in bomb-proof shelters while fathers, sons, husbands, wives, daughters, and sisters are blown to pieces to stick up for our ways of life.
