I think Skip Bayless is the only ESPN personality that has stood by Tebow, the rest bash him.

I hate tebow because he's christian.
I hate tebow because he's white.
I hate tebow because he's straight.
I hate tebow because he's male.
I don't hate tebow but think he doesn't have the skills to be a successful QB in the long term.

One of those is true for me (and most people)

i'm as non-religious as you could possibly be, and i think this is pretty absurd. you started out saying he was "forcing" religion and now you're criticizing him for being public about it? give me a break.

have you ever considered that he just really believes in it? like i said, i'm not religious. i don't believe in god and i understand that coming from a non-religious background it might not compute, but i think tebow just thinks or knows or whatever that it's important that he praises god and jesus because it's the right thing to do and that's how to practice his christianity.

Complete 180. If anything, it overly computes. And I respect the fact that he has found his religion and believes in it fully, but I don't think I should have to be reminded of it every time I see him. Honestly I think it's not really his fault the media over-saturates us with his faith, but it's off-putting to me when I see multiple articles about people putting"Jesus" on the back of a Tebow jersey. Again, not Tebow's fault, directly, but you sleep in the bed you make.

i think "people putting jesus on the back of tebow jerseys" may be the most ridiculous reach for a reason to dislike him that weve seen so far.

who fucking cares? thats not his fault. hes not the first player to make his faith known. not by a longshot.

i dont see how hes preachy at all or even remotely comes close to forcing his faith on anybody.

i just dont see how saying you dislike tebow because of his faith is any different than saying you dislike somebody because theyre jewish.

troy polamalu crosses himself after every single play. that's more overtly religious than tebow. nobody bashes polamalu for being christian. maybe its because troy is samoan and tim is white. race card. /sarcasm/

I don't care that Tebow is Christian and has his faith, but he's just SO in your face about it. For example, after their win against the Jets he was sitting at the desk with all the NFL Network guys being interviewed and he said, "This is all about me building a hospital in Singapore" (or whatever, something to that effect -- can't remember where exactly). No, it's not. It's about your team playing football. It's about your team winning. It's about you proving your detractors wrong. There's a time and place to discuss your charitable work (which I also feel shouldn't be brought up by yourself, but that's a whole other discussion). All in all, though, I actually am starting to root for the kid. I hated him in college and I was super down on him coming into the NFL. But I do love seeing him deliver at the end of games if not just to stick it to Fox and Elway.

so we're mad that he uses his time on espn to talk about charitable work rather than the game we all just watched. still doesn't seem like a reason anyone would dislike a normal human being, but because it's tebow, it's shitty of him.

No, the way he brought it up and talked about it was hokey; I don't think it's "shitty of him." And yes, I believe one doesn't need to brag about the work they're doing and should just let their actions do the talking. I don't see how someone mentioning you being able to win in such a fashion in a handful of games warrants a "I was able to announce this week I'm building a hospital in the Philippines" blah blah blah. Either way, I didn't say I disliked him for it (I actually admitted I'm rooting for him now), I just wish he'd tone it down a bit; I can also see why it rubs some people the wrong way. From solely a football and competitive standpoint, I hope he keeps winning and proving his haters wrong.

I used to think WTG had the stupidest reasons for hating Tebow. Clearly, I was wrong.

It is shitty of Tebow to raise awareness about places where people are malnourished and/or dying. He should be chest-thumping instead and shoving his success in his hate's faces - that is exactly what you just said.

I really find it so hard to be anything but neutral to Tebow. I may not agree with his faith or how he chooses to display it, but that has nothing to do with his football playing and at the end of the day, that's what matters most to me. As for his on field stuff, well whatever. Chances are that his play will never directly impact the team I root for, so I couldn't give two shits. Good for him that he's finding a way to be successful as an NFL QB. If it keeps up for him, great. If not, so be it. That's the nature of the beast.

Eli's the best anyway so....

I don't hate Tim Tebow, but watching him play the NFL QB position is like watching a little kid attempt to put a square block in a circle hole. But somehow he makes it work.

Once again, I don't hate the guy; I'm actually rooting for him and would like to see him succeed. I just wish he'd tone that down a bit -- there's a time and place for those things, in my opinion -- but it's his prerogative. But I can also see why it'd rub some people the wrong way. I'm sure he was sincere and I can't question his motives, it just came off as a bit boastful more so than it did "raising awareness."
