whoa slow down amyxjane, rise against is currently more relevant/in the minds of music fans than rancid is so chances are you're gonna have more rise against fans out at the shows. So even though I don't think RA should be the headliner it probably makes more sense.
i don't think it makes any more sense because of this fact:
Last summer Rancid played 5 nights in a row here in nyc, all selling out pretty quick. I dont know if RA would be able to do that.
that and the fact that they still seem quite relevant to the youngins. the amount of young kids at the rancid show i went to last year was incredible, and i don't think the popularity of "punk" can be blamed anymore. it is no longer the thing to do for "cred", ask all the kids with hair in their eyes decked out in neon being completely obnoxious and full of themselves.
i guess it doesn't really matter who closes the show, as long as i get to see rancid play a decent set, i am a happy camper.
