I was looking for a new book to read and came across reviews of this. Sounded too convoluted for my tastes but after watching the trailer, I was like screw this I'm reading this book.

I'm in the second story and really enjoying it. True it was a task to get through that first narrative but I'm eating it up now.

Whatever. I read the book because the trailer looked awesome.

And then I liked the book so much that I'll see the movie no matter what.

I've since read Ghoswritten and I'm working on The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet.

So whatever to that review.

I'm starting to get scared. I've read a lot of negative reviews of the film and I half-expect it to be a pretentious and unfilmable flop.

The book was fantastic, mind you - I just have my concerns.

Holy cow.

youguysyouguysyouguys

I went to the midnight showing and I was blown away. Absolutely blown away. Fantastic movie, coming from a skeptic who read the book.

The pacing was perfect, the acting outstanding. I knew what was going to happen the whole time but I was still excited.

Man. Hugo Weaving. Man.

I'll edit this later maybe when I calm down.

I don't expect it to do well. It will go well over the heads of many casual movie goers. People typically don't have the attention span for this type of film. Which is sad, because it is beautiful.

I love Robert Frobisher so much. After watching the movie, pretty sure Letters from Z is still my favorite.

Agreed, Ben Whishaw was outstanding. Sad they cut out Vyvyan's daughter but it still worked out.

I think they nailed Timothy Cavendish's story the most.

Sonmi's was obviously the most fabricated but it was still exciting.
