New album is fantastic. Favorites upon first listen: 45, Handwritten, and Mae.

I'm not impressed with Biloxi Parish, but, then again, it's only my first listen.

I still don't understand why everyone likes "Mulholland Drive" so much. Hasn't hit me yet.

The last chorus. It's fuckin' rocks, to me at least.

I can't believe someone is complaining about the lyrics on Handwritten.

Stop being so overly critical and go fuck yourself.

I know that a lot of people try to compare Handwritten to The 59 Sound but the more I listen to all the TGA songs (I usually shuffle all) we need to not forget how many fucking JAMS that American Slang had. I think Stay Lucky and Old Haunts may very well be two of my favorite songs they have and I feel like that album never lets up the entire album. I could see the fault of it being too short but I think the final song may be my favorite of their closers too. Always, just had this pop into my head and wanted to share.

The Spirit Of Jazz was the first song I heard by this band and the song that got me into them. I love it.

Aside from my initial favorites, (45, Handwritten, and Mae), Here Comes My Man and National Anthem are great. I think National Anthem is a beautiful way to end the album.

Also, I agree with whoever said the middle part of the album lags a bit. The beginning and end of the album are fantastic though.

I've only heard people complain after a couple of venue shows but have heard lots of complaints about them at festivals. They are one of the best live bands in the business, they just suck at festivals because the whole selling point of Gaslight is the sing-a-longs and the energy, not that every note is played perfectly.

Isn't that the selling point of most bands?

I agree with him. It should have replaced Desire.

I wish it just closed out the album. It sounds great as closer.

Agreed. Biloxi Parish is an awesome cut.

I think "Blue Dahlia" works great as a post-script after "National Anthem." Would still cut "Too Much Blood."

Too Much Blood was the only other song that never sat well with me on the album (the other being Desire).
