I know that a lot of people try to compare Handwritten to The 59 Sound but the more I listen to all the TGA songs (I usually shuffle all) we need to not forget how many fucking JAMS that American Slang had. I think Stay Lucky and Old Haunts may very well be two of my favorite songs they have and I feel like that album never lets up the entire album. I could see the fault of it being too short but I think the final song may be my favorite of their closers too. Always, just had this pop into my head and wanted to share.
A device for what? I mean, I guess it could be interpreted as writing love letters by hand instead of lyrics, but given Brian was talking about the name because he wrote everything by hand, I don't see how you can't say its at least parcially about the lyrics. Self-servingness aside, it still isn't a great song. the 'every word handwritten' part gets rather repetitive. It isn't bad, just as this point I'd say its my least favorite gaslight song. Has a few lyrical bright spots, but in general just feels flat.
best song on the album IMHO. Always the one I replay twice.
