mtv live is a (really, really bad) daily show on mtv canada. it's an almost-TRL, with a live audience, where a couple of hosts do shtick for half an hour. most of the show is the hosts going over some weird/dumb news stories and pre-recorded comedy bits. they usually have at least one celebrity type on for an interview and a musical guest at the end. they have a couple of bands in every week or so, and they play 3 songs, the first of which is aired on the show. the rest go up online and are used in later episodes of the show. it's taped in a theatre, so basically what happens is when you get a ticket for gaslight's appearance, the mtv people seat you in the audience for the show, and then they clear all the seats away and move everyone to the stage for the performance at the end. it's kind of brutal to sit through the taping, but it's kind of a cool space to see people play.

i went to the mtv thing. they did the 59 sound, great expectation and old white lincoln. just kinda ripped through em, one after the other, no banter in between. they sounded amazing. they're such a good band, i can't even stand it

this has nothing to do with anything, but i went to see springsteen tonight and he has High Lonesome as part of the pre-show playlist. While waiting around inside for the band to start, I heard it played about 3 times. Might've also had Meet Me By The River's Edge, but it was getting pretty loud around me and I couldn't quite tell. Either way, it made me kinda proud :P
Definitely the perfect way to get psyched up for the show.
