I love the fact they can do both on amazing fashion.

Wonder if the Gaslight Anthem will release anything else this year. We ended up getting Halloween and Desire (acoustic). I know Brian's doing a solo album, but it did sound like he was writing a variety of different music for a while ago. I could go for another EP, iTunes session or a cover contribution. Maybe another track for rpm. I know a full length isn't a real expectation until 2014.

I doubt we'd get more than another song for the fan club. I'm not even sure we'll get Brian's solo project this year.

But yeah, both the slower tempo and faster stuff are all good. I mean, I tend to prefer the faster stuff, but that doesn't stop Blue Jeans from being possibly the greatest song ever recorded and HLAYK from being downright amazing as well.

The fact they can do both amazes me. Blue Jeans, Here's Looking at You, She Loves You, Navesink, and having songs like 59 Sound, Handwritten, American Slang, We Came To Dance and so on.

Are they releasing a Live recording for Record Store Day? I thought I had read that. No track listing was posted. I feel like Brian would want to get that solo album out this year like he did The Horrible Crowes in a non Gaslight Full Length year.

Yeah there is like a live cd + book of some kind set they are releasing. I donno. As soon as I saw "live CD" I completely lost interest.

They just announced two NYC shows on July 26th and 27th at Pier 26 with the Bouncing Souls and the Hold Steady, respectively. Fuck. Gotta go!

Band had a pretty awful coachella set. Both Alex R and Alex L hit a ton of off notes throughout the set, and Alex R was off-time a lot. Brian could hardly keep on key too. Doesn't help they played a ton off of Handwritten.

Yeah, I just listened to some of their Coachella set.

Brian sounded awful. Like he was really struggling.

I thought the same thing. They HAVE been touring pretty nonstop for almost a year though...

They took a while off, maybe three or four weeks, and when I watched videos of their first shows after that he sounded great. Now, after a month or so of touring again he's back to sounding exhausted. I just don't think he has the endurance to keep up these tours. He needs a REAL break, but I think he just has so much he wants to do (solo record, side projects, etc.) that he isn't ever going to take one.

I would happily live without a solo album from Brian if it means they really knuckle down on the next Gaslight album and he lets his voice recover for a while. It won't happen but I really would love to hear some of that Horrible Crowes feel put into Gaslight. Not distilled down into numerous different projects.

I don't know. I'd rather keep the projects separate... TGA being the straight up "rock band", THC being a little quieter/weirder/more experimental, and the upcoming solo stuff being mostly acoustic/harmonica.

I don't think I've ever heard of Gaslight playing a good set at a festival.

They are a band meant to be seen indoors surrounded by sweaty happy fans who are all singing along, not in a hot sticky crowd where at best half the people there have even heard of them and the other half are there just to get a good spot to see a band play three hours from now.

Couldn't you say that for every band?

I mean, in part yes. Part of why I don't go to festivals. But not every band is the "everyone singing along feeding off the energy the band creates while the band feeds off the audience energy" kind of band. Someone like say, The National, wouldn't be as good to see at a festival but the difference between festival show and venue show wouldn't be as bad.

Don't see how that has any influence over them hitting wrong notes and singing terribly off key. They're just not a great live band.
