Yes of corse you can enjoy both with out ranking them, That said Alphabet alphabets was 10 x better then this album, alot of the songs sound too similar. I am disapointed however the album is still a good listen and I will repeat. Which is far more than I can say about thursdays latest release. So thank you trophy scars for not letting me down as much as thursday has. It has come to my attention lately these days that this is how i judge bands. By who has let me down, the least. (I miss northstar)
Love the album. Definitely a lot more mature and bluesyer which is great. After two listens some of the songs ran together but I have to go back and give it a better listen one my pre-order gets to me. The concept is sick and tells a great story.
Alphabet Alphabets came out the summer before senior year and will always hold a certain spot in my heart as the album I jammed every day for the last year of high school. It was aggressive and personal.
I wish you talked more about the lyric and the story concepts.
Anyone who hasn't picked this up go do it and go see them if you get a chance. The CD release party was sick and the music becomes very personal live.
Drew... I typically enjoy your reviews, but I do not feel this one gave this album justice. The songs set up a story that reminds me of a Henry Darger book/painting, and the story that runs through the songs like blood through veins is dark enough to make me want to listen to this as I sign my soul over to the devil.
It's truly a piece of art... a higher rating was needed. I may just write my first review on this album
