For now, Portland's newest eclectic indie rock outfit, Water & Bodies, can
only be heard live. But starting April 15th, the four-piece will be
streaming their very first song online, exclusively at RainCityRecords.net.
With no music currently available for listening, these former members of
Kaddisfly have already garnered over 28,000 views on MySpace in a few short
months, and have been bringing in strong, eager crowds to their local shows.

Having recorded without many of today's technological aids, Water & Bodies
will be releasing a self-titled EP on May 15th via Portland-based Rain City
Records. The EP will be available digitally through the label's website, and
a vinyl release of the album is expected to follow.

Water & Bodies plan to promote the record locally and regionally throughout
the spring and early summer.

I really loved their song (as Kaddisfly) "Midnight in Shanghai" which was a KILLER song. Never listened to anything else from them though. I'll have to check out this song when it goes up.

I don't know why they had to change the name/start a new band, it's the same exact members from Kaddisfly.
Doesn't make sense.

The bassist left, and they didn't want to continue on as the same band without their friend. One of the guitarists took over on bass.

Thought that's what happened. Well that's respectable. Any who, I'm really excited for this.

I was just about to ask what the lineup was, so thanks. I don't think this is that smart of a move for them, even if their Kaddisfly fanbase was small changing names loses fans they have to start over now in a sense

Kaddisfly was so good, and I expect nothing different from this next reincarnation.

Eh. Kaddisfly were really hit or miss for me.

Mostly this just makes me want to go listen to Bodies of Water.

color me excited. kaddisfly has always been a band i've recommended to everybody. they constantly wrote stellar songs and executed them with stunning performances. hands down one of my favorite bands of the past 10 years.

i expect nothing less from water and bodies. given the direction that kaddisfly was heading toward was some of the most progressive music produced by a "scene band", i have a feeling water and bodies is going to be THE band to watch.

Er... I think that's part of the point. It would have been so easy for them to just carry on under the same name, but I respect them for not going for the easy option.

Anyway, I think this could be good - I'm looking forward to it.
