According to the annual report from the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), total music sales revenues in 2012 increased by 0.3% from 2011. This marks the first time that record sales have increased since 1999. Revenue from digital sales increased by 9% from 2011, and revenue from streaming services increased by a whopping 44%. The report also tells us that the best-selling song worldwide last year was "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen (12.5 million units sold), and that for the second consecutive year Adele had the best-selling album, moving 8.3 million copies of 21 in 2012.

You can check out our interview with Underoath here. Topics include: final tour & inclusion of past members, two new songs, faith, and more.
From The Interview I guess the thing I'd want people to remember is that we were who we were, and we didn't pretend to be anything else. For me personally, I've always been adamant that this is where God has me, and what he wants me to be doing. I've spent every day being on tour, meeting new people and making new friends, going out to eat and hanging out with people. Personally, I would want people to look back and say "Those guys actually care, and it wasn't just a band/fan relationship, they really care", that's the way I've always looked at it...

Check out our interview with Mac Miller, here. We talk current collaborations, his upcoming sophomore full length record, and more.
From The InterviewThe first album was like zero collaborations, so the second one is full of a lot more collaborations. Earl's on there, Vince Staples is on there, Action Bronson's on there, Gucci, a lot of people. And then the whole TDE movement is a big part of the record, they're good friends of mine as well.

Whew, time flies when you're listening to great music. At least it does for us, as the staff at AbsolutePunk can barely believe we're already in July. And just like last year, we have had a ton of great music released to us during the first six months of 2012. So naturally we shifted through our lists to individually select our top 10 records midway through 2012. You can check out all the lists here and make sure you leave a comment (or ten).
