Living in Gainesville for four years taught me lots of things, and one of them was that there existed in Central and Northern Florida a hotbed of talented punk and emo bands. I watched groups like Gainesville's Dikembe and Orlando's You Blew It! play house shows before they signed to Tiny Engines and Topshelf Records, respectively, and I discovered Orlando's Henrietta when they put out a split with Tallahassee's Echo Base (who they will hit the road with this summer - dates in the replies) and South Florida's Gillian Carter. Today we're very excited to share a cut from Echo Base's upcoming debut full-length, Some Legacy. "God Dammit, Phaynes" is named after AP.net's favorite curmudgeonly user, and is the final track on the record. If you've enjoyed the recent surge in "twinkle" bands, make sure to check this out - Echo Base are poised to challenge Dads for the title of "best two-piece emo band."
