Living in Gainesville for four years taught me lots of things, and one of them was that there existed in Central and Northern Florida a hotbed of talented punk and emo bands. I watched groups like Gainesville's Dikembe and Orlando's You Blew It! play house shows before they signed to Tiny Engines and Topshelf Records, respectively, and I discovered Orlando's Henrietta when they put out a split with Tallahassee's Echo Base (who they will hit the road with this summer - dates in the replies) and South Florida's Gillian Carter. Henrietta, which will release its debut LP, The Trick Is Not Minding, on August 28 via Animal Style, had a few older EPs which I then checked out at the time - and...

Today we're very excited to share a cut from Echo Base's upcoming debut full-length, Some Legacy. "God Dammit, Phaynes" is named after AP.net's favorite curmudgeonly user, and is the final track on the record. If you've enjoyed the recent surge in "twinkle" bands, make sure to check this out - Echo Base are poised to challenge Dads for the title of "best two-piece emo band." The album, set to be released independently on September 3rd, can be pre-ordered at Bandcamp for a minimum of $5 with all digital sales going towards pressing the record on vinyl.

PropertyOfZack has a couple of track-by-track features today, one with Echo Base and one with With The Punches. They also have an interview with Anberlin discussing the band's new record.
From the Aneberlin InterviewWorking with Brendan O’Brian was a dream come true, but we made the moodiest record we’ve ever made. We definitely felt like we were missing a lot of our aggression, and we made up for that on our new record. It felt fun to write heavy rock songs again and to write faster music, but still develop towards something different.
