Hey all, and thanks for taking the time to read the 1st installment in “Four Chords & Seven Years Ago.” Last week we talked aboutDown To Earth Approach and it was met with a ton of positive feedback of people listening/remembering them and reminiscing about DTEA stories. This week, we talk about Louisville, KY's Emanuel. Head to the replies to read the whole entry.
Emanuel will be recording an acoustic EP with acoustic versions of four songs on their new album Black Earth Tiger: "Cottonmouth," "My Antapex," "Scenotaph" and "Whiteflag (reprise)." The EP will be a bonus for fans that pre-order the album from interpunk and will not be sold in stores (except for select indie stores listed below). The band also has announced some September record release shows, after their four-week tour with The Receiving End of Sirens which starts next week. The band will be touring the US again in November.
Stephen, Kris and Lyle of Lorene Drive have started a side project dubbed Primavera. The group has lined up some dates with Jack Mannequin and Emanuel, so go here to listen to the material online and for more details on their shows.
Emanuel entered the studio at the beginning of the month to record their sophomore album, Black Earth Tiger, which will be released this summer on Vagrant Records. The band is working with producer Terry Date (Soundgarden, Deftones, Smashing Pumpkins). Singer Matt Breen describes it as "There are abrupt changes and atmospheric sounds. It’s heavy in a new way. It’s sadder. It’s developed.”
If you buy any piece of clothing from Emanuel'sMerchDirect online store, you have the chance to win all of the bands favorite movies, as well as hand written notes from the band explaining why they love those movies. More info can be found right here. The band hits the studio in January with producer Terry Date (Pantera, Soundgarden) to record their new album.
In January, Emanuel will head to Seattle to record their follow up album with Terry Date (Deftones, Soundgarden, Pantera), which will see a spring release via Vagrant. A short stint with I Am The Avalanche has been announced as well.
Emanuel was involved in an accident in Texas two nights ago. Their van and trailer are reportedly totaled. All the guys are supposed to be ok though. They'll be missing the next week of shows with 30 Seconds To Mars,.
