Ryan Key of Yellowcard wrote up a little piece about covering "Already Won" for the Tony Sly tribute album.
First of all, being asked to be a part of this amazing tribute is such an honor. Tony and No Use For a Name were huge influences on all of us as musicians and songwriters. When Fat Mike contacted me about it he said he had a song in mind that he thought was right for Yellowcard, "Already Won." Recording the song was amazing. We actually did the drums during soundcheck in Salt Lake City on our fall tour last year. Recorded them right from the stage. Then when we got in the studio to do the rest of the tracks, there was such an intense energy between us all because we wanted to do...

If you head to TonySly.org you'll find videos and write-ups from a variety of the artists that contributed to the recently released Remembering Tony tribute album. You can also follow the website on Twitter to get updates when new stories are posted. A sample entry from Brian Fallon is included below.
When I was asked to do this tribute, I was somewhere in Denmark. I picked Capo right away. I recorded this song very, very simply, just one guitar and my voice and my harmonica. I did it one night in the winter, it was freezing and quiet and late, like it always is when this kind of song is written or recorded.

To me Capo says, "I'm trying... I'm doing my best, but it's hard...

Joey Cape is auctioning off a Scorpios record -- with all proceeds being donated to Tony Sly's family.
This is the last split I did with Tony Sly. Tony has 2 songs on this album. It was fun to make and I am proud I was able to share this experience with Tony. People are always asking me for this record but I can not sell this on my store site (joeycape.com). So I decided to sell a few I have on Ebay. In my mind this record needs to be available to Tony's fans. It will eventually. But for now... here ya go!

Fat Wreck Chords confirmed that the label will be releasing the upcoming Tony Sly tribute album.
Tony was a fucking amazing songwriter and one of my dearest friends. His death was traumatic. Horrible. I’ve had friends die, but this was different. Tony wasn’t finished. I’ve been putting together this tribute comp for some time. It’s incredible how many bands have called me wanting to be on it. It’s been my absolute privilege to put this together. What I wanted to show on this record is how amazing Tony’s songs are. You can tell a song is great when it can be done in any style and it’s still great. That’s what this comp is about. All the bands are doing No Use for a Name songs or...

Fat Wreck Chords has posted an update with funeral information for No Use For a Name frontman Tony Sly. They also mention that Tony died "peacefully in his sleep."
StatementThe loss of a loved one is a stark reminder of how short life really is, especially when they go before their time. Last week, Tony Sly was taken too soon, dying peacefully in his sleep at age 41. He is survived by his wife Brigitte, their two daughters Fiona and Keira, his brothers Mike and Jonathan Sly, and his parents Pauline and John Sly. In our time of grief it has been the stories from all over the world shared by band members, friends, and fans that have brought solace in an inconsolable time. To his family,...
