The third quarter of 2014 has finally come to a close. The AP staff has been hard at work collecting our favorite new music from the past three months. The result is an incredibly diverse collection of songs and it's our hope that you can pick up some additions to your EOTY list! It was tough to whittle this playlist down to ninety minutes, but we did it. Check out our AbsolutePlaylist that highlights twenty-five amazing releases from July, August, and September in both Spotify and Rdio renditions in the replies. Be sure to share your favorite new releases with us as well!

Today, I'm proud to bring you the fifth AbsolutePlaylist member submission! Hayleyapan (Hayley) has been a member with us since 2013. She hails from Kentucky and brings us a great playlist, today: "Sometimes this scene can feel like a boys-only club, so I wanted to make a playlist to remind myself and other women that there are plenty of great female-fronted bands." Check out the playlist in Rdio and Spotify renditions in the replies. To submit your own playlist, check out our submission thread!

He brings us a playlist described as, "...giving off a vibe that makes me feel like going off on an adventure. They are all great to listen to on the open road or when staring down on the Earth from 5,000 miles high." Check out the playlist in Rdio and Spotify renditions in the replies. To submit your own playlist, check out our submission thread!

Today, I'm happy to bring you an AbsolutePlaylist from Brookyln based outfit, Image Society. They're dropping their new EP, The Doom of Youth, this week. To celebrate, they've put together a list of their favorite bands based on their roots in Long Island, which you can check out in the replies. If you're new to Image Society, you can check out the video for their song "Mirror Images" here. I get a strong A Great Big Pile of Leaves vibe from them.

It's pretty hard to argue that Rise Records isn't one of the top independent record labels out there. Thinking about it, the first time I had ever heard of the label was when Drop Dead, Gorgeous played at a Christian festival Tomfest in July of 2006. I remember learning about new bands through the label's sampler CDs (remember those?) - this was one of my first exposures to bands like The Devil Wears Prada and more. The following AbsolutePlaylist is a collection of what I consider to be Rise Records very best - hopefully you find a new artist or two to check out and support. Definitely include links to your own favorites in the replies.

Back in April, we brought you a collection of our favorite releases from the first quarter of 2014. Today, we're bringing you the best of the best from April, May, and June of this year. We're hoping that you can discover some new releases to add to your end of the year list. Head to the replies to check out the AbsolutePlaylist in Spotify and Rdio formats!

Welcome back to AbsolutePlaylist, a new feature that will bring you a playlist each Friday from one of our staff members or a special guest to ring your weekend in the right way. It's the beginning of a special weekend for me: I'll be getting married tomorrow afternoon, to the girl of my dreams. This playlist was made to reflect all of the excitement and emotion of the biggest day of my life.

Welcome back to AbsolutePlaylist! In case you missed it, we started a discussion yesterday about our favorite Independence Day songs. Today, we're proud to present "America, an AbsolutePlaylist." Check it out in all its American glory (in both Rdio and Spotify renditions) in the replies, and have a great 4th of July!

Summertime always breeds a host of unique emotions. Whether you're blasting tunes through your car speakers on the way to the shore, listening quietly at work while you patiently await the end of the work day, or sipping on your favorite drink as the blazing sun sets, there's always a song to fit the mood. With the longest day of the year (if you're north of the equator) coming tomorrow, we've put together a special AbsolutePlaylist that should ease your transition into the summer months ahead. If you have a favorite that you don't see on the list, be sure to drop it in the replies!

Last week we brought you ten bands that you may have overlooked on this year's Warped Tour. We focused on some of the more acoustic and mellow bands, but this week I've enlisted the help of fellow staffer Jake Denning to bring you some of the louder, heavier bands on the tour. We have another ten bands that we've added to the now complete 40 track playlist! Check it out in the replies. The 2014 Vans Warped Tour kicks off today in Houston!
Anthony Sorendino on 06/13/14 - 08:10 AM
Every Warped Tour band announcement this year has been met with: "Who?" and "When will they announce the good bands?" I was guilty of it as well. There were too many bands that I wasn't familiar with, and I didn't like that. I turned to the staff and we came up with 20 bands that you may have overlooked for a special two-part edition of AbsolutePlaylist. Personally, this process has almost doubled my list of bands to see. We're bringing you the first 10 bands today, so give them a shot! We've got both Spotify and Rdio links in the replies. If you like what you hear on the playlist, you can read a little bit more about the bands in the replies and check out another song via YouTube. Check...

This week's AbsolutePlaylist may feel a bit bizarre. Shaped around my night owl tendencies, "night moves" features the finest, darkest, and starkest cuts from some of my favorite artists - the type of music I want to listen to whether I'm driving aimlessly at 3 AM or lying in bed restless. Expect imperfect vocals, raw and ultra personal lyrics, loud/quiet/loud dynamics, and the unexpected. And one can only truly experience said playlist once the sun sets. Let's get weird in the replies.

Remember, if you'd like to submit your very own playlist, head over to our submission thread!

It's time again for another AbsolutePlaylist, the feature where a staff member or special guest gets you buzzing for the weekend with their very own playlist. This week, the AbsolutePlaylist is in my hands. Given that it's the start of the summer and most of you folks are smoothing out your A Day To Remember tank-tops in anticipation of getting stoked for the Warped Tour, I've decided to remind you all that Ireland (where I live) is still cold and rainy, even in the summer. So, I've created a wonderfully wintery playlist of a particular slice of my favourite sad songs for you all to get de-psyched to. Sorry kids, but it's never sunny in south Ireland. Also, if you'd like to submit your...

We've had a great round of playlists so far since we started AbsolutePlaylist in January; everything from southern rock, to highschool crush mixtapes, to pop/punk nostalgia. Now we're turning to our community for submissions. Head over to our music forum for the rules. Just drop your submissions right in the thread and if you're chosen, you'll be featured on the front page!

If you missed the playlist this week, Blake Solomon put together an excellent one highlighting the 20th anniversary of Weezer's Blue Album. Check it out here.
Anthony Sorendino on 05/16/14 - 05:55 AM
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Weezer's Blue Album, we've put together a pretty cool playlist featuring some of the band's "deep cuts." No singles allowed, and we tried to include at least one song from all of their full-length albums. There's also a group of music videos featuring some of the best songs Weezer have covered, and some videos of the best covers of Weezer songs. So come inside and let Rivers and the Gang remind you why they made us love them in the first place, and why we'll continue to love them even as we all grow old and gross. Also, in case you missed it last week, Drew wrote up a very interesting article about just what a mark the Blue Album left on all of us...

I decided to get a little nostalgic with this week's AbsolutePlaylist by looking at some of my favourite Canadian pop-punk/punk tracks from the 2000s. Since I was born in 1990 that's the first decade I really started paying attention to music and while most of those bands aren't doing stuff in 2014 I know I'll never totally forget about them. Check out my picks in the replies and feel free to chime in with your favourite songs too.
Deborah Remus on 05/09/14 - 08:22 AM
Welcome back to our weekly feature, AbsolutePlaylist, where a staff member or special guest compiles a playlist to help kick off your weekend. This week, you're lumped with me and my take on a soundtrack to "a day in the life" of somebody who has every fairly "normal" occurrence happen to him within a 24 hour period; morning routine, seeing friends and having fun, partying, debauchery, drink, drugs, fights, lust and of course the inevitable drunken regret at the end of the night. I hope you enjoy and can possibly see where I'm coming from. Check it out alongside my explanation and chime in with tracks you'd use to soundtrack the moments mentioned. Get involved!

Today we're bringing you a very special edition of AbsolutePlaylist featuring the one and only Kenny Vasoli. You've seen his music transform from the days of The Starting Line, to Person L, and now to the "nu-hula" Vacationer, who will be releasing sophomore album, Relief on June 24th. Today we get the chance to travel into Kenny's musical inspirations. Check out Kenny's playlist, titled "Summation: My Journey Through Music" in the replies.
Here is a collection of tunes that encompass the journey my ears and mind have made through music. I did my best to sequence this playlist chronologically according to when in my life I obsessed over these artist/songs. It was an interesting...

Today's edition of AbsolutePlaylist is brought to you by me, so it's not like any of the other ones since I am a deviant. Currently I date a girl who I went to high school with, but she didn't like me in high school despite some of the best-curated mix CDs ever given to anyone on the planet. I had seen the movie High Fidelity and she hadn't, so how is it possible that this best-laid plan didn't work? Today we investigate this further with a playlist of songs that I actually put on mix CDs for a girl that I liked in high school, complete with commentary. It's in the replies, of course.

If you caught our discussion thread yesterday, you probably noticed where we were heading. The first quarter of 2014 is officially over and I'm officially overwhelmed with new releases; I feel like the best are falling through the cracks. Do you feel like you're missing out as well? Well, have no fear! We're here with a special quarterly edition of the AbsolutePlaylist, highlighting some of our favorites from the past three months. Check out the playlist in both Spotify and Rdio renditions in the replies.

Welcome back to AbsolutePlaylist, a new feature that will bring you a playlist each Friday from one of our staff members or a special guest to ring your weekend in the right way. This week I've put together some songs designed to help you shake off any lingering traces of the winter blues you might have, because hopefully by now the weather is warming up where you are. And if it's not, I'm very sorry...maybe try pulling up YouTube videos of daffodils blossoming and birds chirping? I dunno. Either way, there are Rdio and Spotify playlists for your enjoyment in the replies.

Welcome back to AbsolutePlaylist, a new feature that will bring you a playlist each Friday from one of our staff members or a special guest to ring your weekend in the right way. For this week, I put together a playlist of great songs from forgotten or partially forgotten 90s bands. Instead of going for the hits or for songs that everyone knows, though, I chose deep cuts from more recent releases. All of these artists are still active today, and as this playlist shows (I hope), they're still making engaging music. Enjoy!
Craig Manning on 03/28/14 - 07:59 AM
We're back this week with another AbsolutePlaylist, a feature that will bring you a playlist each Friday from one of our staff members or a special guest to ring your weekend in the right way. For today's playlist, I handpicked a batch of songs from some of my favorite springtime albums, new and old, for a playlist to soundtrack this year's spring season. You can check out a Spotify link in the replies.

It's time again for our latest and greatest feature, AbsolutePlaylist, where one of us knuckleheads does a very little amount of work that seems impressive because it's a list! In this week's installment, I have created an ode to the poorly written word, a grouping of songs I turn to when I simply can't procrastinate any more and must just sit down and write something. Maybe you have the same dilemma, and maybe someone is always threatening to fire you because, in their words, "You aren't very good at writing for being a writer." Whatever your need, here are some songs.

Welcome back to AbsolutePlaylist, a feature that will bring you a playlist each Friday from one of our staff members or a special guest to ring your weekend in the right way. Today, I'm bringing you a playlist of songs written and released when the band members were teenagers. Check out a Spotify link in the replies.

Welcome back to AbsolutePlaylist, a feature that will bring you a playlist each Friday from one of our staff members or a special guest to ring your weekend in the right way. This week I'm taking you to the local bar here at UConn where if you don't put money in the jukebox, the music stops and everyone gets awkward. Thankfully, they have great drink deals, so I spend more money on songs than on beer - here's what I put on in the last month. Check out the playlist on Rdio and Spotify in the replies.

Welcome back to AbsolutePlaylist, a new feature that will bring you a playlist each Friday from one of our staff members or a special guest to ring your weekend in the right way. Today I'm taking over to showcase what I listen to when I'm in the gym, lifting weights - maybe you'll remember some of the other gym playlists that have hit the site over the last year or so. You can check out a Spotify link in the replies.

Today we've compiled a special edition of AbsolutePlaylist for Valentine's Day. All of us here on AP.net have different plans for the holiday - and whether or not we're in a relationship, we're excited to share a few songs with you. A batch of staff members who are in relationships asked their significant others to choose a song that was meaningful to them and that, in a way, represented their relationship. We let them do the writing this time and they contributed a short blurb about why they chose that song. Another batch of staff who are riding solo today chose songs as well and contributed short writeups. Just click into the replies and check it out.

Welcome back to AbsolutePlaylist, a new feature that will bring you a playlist each Friday from one of our staff members or a special guest to ring your weekend in the right way. Today I've taken the helm to give you a stunning tour-de-force of the oft-maligned and misunderstood genre known as "southern rock." There are Rdio and Spotify streams in the replies so kick off your shoes, grab your beverage of choice, and let's wish these winter blues away together!
Chris Collum on 02/07/14 - 06:41 AM
Today we're very proud to announce a brand new feature which, for the time being, we're calling AbsolutePlaylist. We're going to be posting a 1 hour playlist every Friday starting off with our very own staff members. This week, we're featuring my own playlist: From 24 to 12: A Playlist to my Past where I put together a collection of songs I would send to my 12 year old self. Check out the playlist, and my track by track commentary in the replies.
