AFI have scrapped their recorded work thus-far with producer David Bottrill. They're currently recording in Los Angeles with Joe McGrath helming the soundboard (Green Day, Tourmaline, Morrissey).

AFI have completed writing their new album.
UpdateHello dear, it's time. We've officially finished writing the 8th AFI album, and now we enter the studio to put it on tape. We have a fabulous producer we'll be working with, David Bottrill, who has worked on some fantastic and legendary albums by Peter Gabriel, Muse, Silverchair, Placebo, and Tool. We've spent this whole year crafting these songs and we're impatient to share them, so let's get busy. Love, Davey, Adam, Hunter, and Me

The Force (Hunter of AFI's first band) are re-uniting for a small run of shows.

Press-releaseJune 29, 2008ó NorCal hardcore/punk band, The Force, is reuniting for the first time in 10 years. Singer Matt Wedgley (Viva Hate), bassist Hunter Burgan (AFI), guitarist Mark Roustabout (The Roustabouts) and the inimitable drummer Chad Cox went their separate ways after the bandís final show in 1998, each following his own path to personal and professional success.

This reunion will give fans as well as those who missed The Force the first time around a chance to witness California hardcore/punk at its truest and finest.

A sample clip of a new AFI song entitled "Ether," can be heard on the EA Sports website. The song, from the band's upcoming EP, will be part of the NASCAR09 Soundtrack.

AFI will be releasing a new EP this December courtesy of Interscope Records. Furthermore, the group will contribute a rarity, "Carcinogen Crush," which is set to appear on the aforementioned release, to the Guitar Hero franchises third installment, Legends of Rock, as an exclusive download.

AFI's new album, Decemberunderground, will have one of four different collectible booklets behind the disc's cover insert, each featuring the face of a group member. The limited-edition booklets will be available exclusively in the album's first pressing. The album hits shelves on Tuesday, June 6th.
