Childish Gambino will be releasing his latest album, Because The Internet, on vinyl for Record Store Day (April 19th). Modern Vinyl has more details.
After its limited bootleg pressing and copies available on his current Deep Web Tour, Childish Gambino’s Because The Internet will finally get a larger vinyl release, as part of Record Store Day 2014. The new run is limited to 5,000 copies, includes the original artwork and is packaged along with a metallic o-card (sleeve), printed inner sleeves and a 72-page booklet (12″ by 12″). That booklet may be why it’s priced at $40 for the event.

Julia Brown are currently in the process of recording their follow-up to last year's fantastic mini-LP To Be Close to You. No word on a release date or title yet, but the album is "maybe halfway finished." Unlike the band's previous work--including as Teen Suicide, which included mostly the same people--this album is not being recorded in a lo-fi fashion and it will be significantly longer than previous releases. Loma Prieta just announced a string of west coast tour dates for the summer; check those out below. Additionally, the band is currently recording demos at The Atomic Garden in San Francisco with producer Jack Shirley, guitarist in the now-defunct Comadre. The band's follow up to the excellent I.V. will come out later this year on Deathwish Inc. and is untitled as of now.

Sweet Cobra will release their new album, Earth, this summer on a label still to be determined. It was recorded by Matt Talbot (Hum) and Kurt Ballou (Converge). The band is also announcing a series of smaller releases, including a split with Young Widows called Live at Three Floyds that will release in April and a split with Get Rad that will release later this month. Mansions’ debut full-length, New Best Friends – which is 5 years old today – is being reissued via Bad Timing Records with alternative artwork designed by frontman Chris Browder. The label is also releasing a never-before-pressed 7” with “The Biggest Lie” and “Tangerine,” two songs that came on a promo EP before NBF’s original release. The release date is tomorrow, March 4, and copies will go on sale at 1pm EST tomorrow as well. The vinyl is limited to 500 units – it’s long been out of print – with 300 on “dirty snow” (white with black color-in-color, see the photo) and 200 on black with white haze.
