Win Butler of Arcade Fire and David Wilson (the director of "We Exist"), have discussed Against Me! frontwomen Laura Jane Grace's recent criticism of the video in an interview with The Advocate.
“Once something gets on the Internet, it works its way into people’s lives in a way that I think is pretty powerful. For a gay kid in Jamaica to see the actor who played Spider-Man in that role is pretty damn powerful, in my opinion. … There was just so much thought and love that went into the video I don’t personally see it as negative.”

Laura has also written some thoughts on Twitter to the article:
this article is hella problematic. To start with there's the fact that Win says "he" and...

I was wondering if anyone was going to comment on this after we posted the video for Arcade Fire's "We Exist" -- but I never really saw anything pop-up. Then, this morning I saw this Tweet from Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace: "Dear arcadefire, maybe when making a video for a song called "We Exist" you should get an actual "Trans" actor instead of Spider-Man?"

Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry will release a new solo album, Music for Heart and Breath, on June 9th. Hit the replies for the track listing and collaborations featured.
[It's] very soft, very quiet music, played utterly in synch with the heart rates and breathing rates of the musicians performing it. Every note you hear is either in synch with the heartbeat of the person playing it, the breathing of the person (or one of the surrounding persons) playing it. So what you hear when this music plays is played precisely in time with someone’s quiet, internal rhythms. Brought to musical life by a handful of different ensembles.

Deadmau5 seemed to take issue with Arcade Fire throwing a few jabs EDM's way the past few weeks. During their Coachella set, Win Butler shouted out "to all the bands playing instruments this weekend" -- and the replies via Twitter from Deadmau5 range from, "arcade fire needs to settle down. some dudes devote their lives to instruments, others to electronic composition by cpu, dafuqs yer problem?" to "inb4 some fucking hipster throws a hackeysack at me." This is way cooler than when I get called out by disgraced band members on my Facebook page.

In an interview with an Australian radio station, Arcade Fire's Win Butler said that the music on the Her movie soundtrack will see an official release in some form.
We're just slow as a band. The music will get out there, it's just, like, a question of if we want to sell it to people or give to people or record other songs or whatever. There are many pieces on the soundtrack that are kind of based on actual songs that we've never really recorded. Yeah, there's a song called Milk and Honey and a song called Dimensions that are, like, lost great Arcade Fire songs. They are actually just things that, like, fit the world of the movie and then we kind of wrote them to the film.

If you are planning to attend Arcade Fire's upcoming 2014 North American tour, you better be prepared to dress up a little. If you click on any of the dates on Ticketmaster, you'll notice it says "Night of Show: Please wear formal attire or costume" - a request the band also made of the fans whom attended the smaller, exclusive shows this past fall. While dressing up was mandatory for those attending the smaller shows, no such clarification has been made about these upcoming arena shows (will a concert-goer be turned away at the door for not dressing up?).

A recent article from The Atlantic claims that Arcade Fire exploited Haiti and "no one noticed."
So with Reflektor, Arcade Fire has employed an old trick. Use seemingly “exotic” cultural elements, regardless of their original context, to grab attention; profit. It’s a model Urban Outfitters, for example, has gotten in trouble for. Many iconic white musicians, from the Beatles to Madonna, from Elvis to Eminem, have done the same, to varying levels of controversy: Most everyone agrees cultural mixing can lead to innovative art, but there are sensitive and insensitive ways to do it, ways that perpetuate inequality and ways that work against it.

Annie Clark (St. Vincent) recently reviewed Arcade Fire's latest album, Reflektor, for The Talkhouse - the same site that featured the late Lou Reed raving over Yeezus and Ezra Koenig's (Vampire Weekend) goofy take on Nothing Was The Same.
The Arcade Fire have released an album that elucidates our constant psychic vacillation between uber-connection and utter disconnection. They ask you to be aware of your fractured attention span/psyche/in touch with your humanity. Arcade Fire so mercifully avoid the Nuremberg-rock cliches ("Hey!") in favor of sleaze, anxiety, and pathos that you can dance to.

Arcade Fire debuted four new songs in total from their upcoming LP Reflektor tonight. First they were the musical guests on Saturday Night Live, where they performed the title track from the album as well as "Afterlife." Following that the band debuted "Here Comes the Night Time," "We Exist," and balls-to-the-wall rocker "Normal People" on a concert special broadcast by NBC immediately after SNL. The concert included a variety of pretty random celebrity cameos (including Michael Cera, Bono, Ben Stiller, James Franco, Rainn Wilson, Zach Galifinakis and more) as well as a lot of bizarre but exuberant dancing both in the band and the audience alike. If you watched either SNL or the concert...
