Finally. My favorite time of the year is here - the leaves change colors, the wind gets a bit brisker for hoodie weather, and football is on television all weekend. Another perk of the fall is how many great albums are releasing this month and beyond. In fact, September is so stacked with anticipated releases that I asked a couple of staff members to add in their own blurbs to we could cover more ground and I wouldn't break my "Countdown" rules. So check out our most anticipated albums for the month of September in the replies and let us know what you're really excited for in the ninth month of 2013.

In a special Thursday edition of "The Countdown," I've decided to travel back ten years to rank the five best releases from the incredible year of 2003. Little did we know how good we had it back then - while I won't complain that this year's output hasn't been fairly good, 2003 was a year that showcased some of our favorite bands at the top of its game. I didn't realize how difficult this was all going to be - it kind of all hit me when I was staring at a list of 30+ great-to-classic albums and realizing I had to pick five. Seriously, check out what was released and then try to pick five! Anyways, my final five features at least one AP.net classic while leaving out a few other...

Billboard recently profiled IAMSOUND Records. One of the label's partners is AbsolutePunk's very own Paul Tao. He looks so handsome.

Is Andrew W.K. really the "worst opener imaginable" for the Black Sabbath tour? I say no way! Read my article refuting the notion.
Is Andrew W.K. the worst opener imaginable? No way! He's not even the worst opener Black Sabbath has ever had. (Let's not forget that Crazy Town shared the stage with with metal legends on Ozzfest 2001.) Although the DJ gig certainly wasn't the ideal display, and I'm sure he'd have preferred a regular performance as well, Andrew W.K. made the most of an awkward situation and, true to his form, partied hard.

PropertyOfZack have released a new feature (and new site) titled "Inside." In its inaugural edition, POZ goes inside Run For Cover Records.
My motivation for graduating college was pretty much solely to have time to get a handle on Run For Cover, and when I got my last semester of grades and knew I graduated, it was definitely one of the happiest and relieving moments of my life. It was like the worst thing in my life was immediately gone and I had complete freedom to dedicate all my time to exactly what I wanted to do, and most importantly I had a job day one after graduating. So many people in my classes graduated in 4 years with honors and couldn’t find any work in a major city. I...

You smell that? That's the promise of autumn - brisk wind, leaves falling, and hot cider. It's my favorite time of year so I'm especially ecstatic that 2013 saved some of the very best releases for the coming Fall months. A handful of staff members put their brains together to put out a small list of the albums we can't wait to hear. Check it out in the replies and let us know what we got right, wrong, and what your personal list would look like.

I recently wrote an article about the joy of emo music, my passion for The Get Up Kids' Something To Write Home About and a few sentimental things about believing in your dreams and whatnot. Have a read of it here.
That's only present in you because you're 14 years old. For some people, 14 is the age that they retreat in to their basements for the rest of their lives to make an existence out of Mountain Dew and 4Chan. For others, 14 means finding new bands and discovering the beautiful world of the genres that Billboard doesn't cover. For me, 14 meant discovering The Get Up Kids. Something To Write Home About, to be precise.

Summer's slipping away and the smell of autumn is emerging from the not-too-distant future. The month of August features a handful of fine albums that'll make the transition of seasons a little smoother. My five most anticipated albums for August range from a couple of pop-rock's finest to some of the best heavy albums of the year. The month is a good primer for the craziness that's going to be September (seriously, have you seen what's releasing that month?!?). Anyways, check out my list in the replies and feel free to discuss the albums you're anticipating next month.

It seems like the mid-year articles and lists arrive faster and faster each year. The first six months of 2013 brought listeners enough great albums to fill up an end of the year list, so it's somewhat overwhelming yet incredibly exciting that we have six more months of fantastic releases to look forward to. As for now, we'll put a bow on the first 181 days of the year by releasing our ten favorites thus far as well as individual lists from our staff. And to go along with this, we've released episode five of the AbsolutePunk Podcast. Jason and I talk about our favorite albums so far and look forward to what the rest of the year has in store. It's hard to believe that we are half way through 2013. Six months in the books and yet there is still no instance of this year slowly down with quality releases week after week. I'm unveiling my five most anticipated July releases a week early since next Monday we'll be highlighting the staff's mid-year Top 10 lists. This month's list was a little easier to put together than last months insane smorgasbord of amazing LPs, but that doesn't mean there's a shortage of great stuff releasing in July.
