The Fender Stratocaster that Bob Dylan played at his famous 1965 Newport Folk Festival performance -- widely hailed as the first time he "went electric," forever changing the face of folk music -- has sold at auction for $965,000, the highest price ever paid for a guitar in an auction.
This auction is sponsored by Republic Records and the monies raised will go to Newtown with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the "Sandy Hook School Support Fund" set up through Newtown Savings Bank/ United Way of Western Connecticut. United Way of Western Connecticut has waived their fees so all the money will go directly to Newtown. Funds will provide support services to the families and community that have been affected.

Bamboozle Left will be auctioning off an appearance on the festival's main stage. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the One Love for Chi foundation to aid in the ongoing medical care of Deftones bass player, Chi Cheng.

All auction items for the Olamide Adeyooye Memorial Scholarship Fund are now up. Olamide was the girlfriend of Andy Wildrick (The Junior Varsity) who was brutally kidnapped and murdered in October of 2005. With the help of Illinois State University, the band has set up a memorial scholarship fund in Olamide's name to ensure that her memory lives on forever. We need to raise a few thousand more dollars to fully endow the scholarship so we asked some friends in the music industry for donations and the response was overwhelming. Fat Mike of NOFX and owner of Fat Wreck Chords is auctioning off his first guitar in order to raise money for Unite the United which will benefit Habitat for Humanity and United Way for the New Orleans area. In the press release Fat Mike had this to say: "It was my first guitar. I bought it from Lynn Strait, (singer from the band Snot), for $50 who actually stole it in the first place, so I bought a stolen guitar... I wrote all of Liberal Animation on it. It never toured since I don't play guitar on tour".
Starting on April 17th and running for five weeks on eBay, the Vans Warped Tour in conjunction with the T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Researchwill be giving the top bidder in each city two tickets to the show as well as the oppurtunity to watch one of your favorite bands from the side of the stage.
