Bands such as Oasis, The Killers, Travis, The Fratellis, and the Kaiser Chefswill be recording new versions of songs from the classic Beatles' album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
At this month's Macworld conference, Steve Jobs got the bloggers talking when he scrolled past Beatles tunes on his demo iPhone, and now the rumor mill has it that, by Valentines Day, the band will be appearing on iTunes.
The UK will not extend the copyright period on sound recordings. The decision means that the earliest official recordings from The Beatles will be out of copyright in 2013.
Capitol Records will be releasing Capitol Albums Volume 2 on April 11th, a companion to The Beatles' 2004 collection that had their first four albums. This one includes The Early Beatles, Beatles VI, the Help! soundtrack, and Rubber Soul (the American pressing). All songs will be in stereo and mono mixes.
