There’s talk of maybe recording an album, there are talks of doing a tour with A Day To Remember, so we’ll see what happens.

Tom DeLonge has written "the fastest punk song" of the last 15 years of his career, and is involved in 6 contracts with best selling authors to write 15 novels with accompanying EP soundtracks. These deals are part of why he couldn't work on Blink182.
One of the reasons all this Blink stuff went haywire was because I am in 6 contracts with Best Selling Authors that are co-writing 15 Novels with me personally. Each one has an EP soundtrack that launches with it. I told my manager the contract that was sent to me for the Blink deal contained weird new language that I had to drop all that music for almost a year. I said I couldn't, but I could record the album in and around those things...

Blink-182 (with Matt Skiba) added both "Go" and "M+M's" to their set at SOMA last night. A few videos have shown up and fans have reported in that the crowd was great and enthusiastic and that Mark called Matt "the new step dad that was going to be living with us from now on."

This week's episode of the AbsolutePunk Podcast begins with a talk about Blink-182 exhaustion and yet our need to talk about Tom DeLonge's new song. I am not a fan. Thomas likes it. We discuss if we're grading Tom on a curve, the overall impact of not having Jerry Finn as a guiding force in the Blink world, and the plausibility of the whole Blink-183 rumors. From there we talk about how underrated Dashboard Confessional seems to be and the band's return, a bunch of albums got announced this week and we touch on a few, and then we finish up the episode answering a question about being self-employed and needing to be self-motivated. Thomas and I share stories about striking the balance...

Travis Barker of Blink-182 sat down with Yahoo! and has posted a new band photo of Blink-182 with Matt Skiba on Instagram.
According to Barker, a big part of the issue was that DeLonge’s heart wasn’t in Blink. “If I showed up for this interview and I was like, “Oh, man,’ you wouldn’t even want to do this interview. You would catch my vibe,” he says. “That’s what it was like playing at practice with the dude forever. It was just like, you’d drive to Orange County to practice, drive an hour and a half to get there, dude’s upset, bummed-out or venting about something. We’re all, ‘Everyone’s got their issues, let’s just play music and have fun and be happy and kick ass.’ So it feels good to...

Alternative Nation has a new interview with Travis Barker about Blink 182.
Alkaline Trio toured with Blink-182 for awhile as an opener band. We are two weeks in to practice and [Matt Skiba]’s killing it. There’s harmonies that have never been sung. He’s actually playing the guitar instead of just Pro Tools. It’s just fresh blood and having someone that’s motivated and stoked to be there makes a world of difference. In general, Skiba has a really charming voice and it couldn’t be a better fit.

Paper Mag recently interviewed Tom DeLonge about UFOs, government coverups, and other things of that nature.
I think it's the biggest story of mankind. You take Christianity: a guy named Jesus came and died on the cross for everybody's sins. That's not as big of a story as what types of intelligences are living across the universe. I mean, the deep space project by Hubble, which is taking our most exotic telescope that we've ever made at the time, and focusing on the blackest part of space for 11 days straight. Literally a grain of sand, if you held it out at arm's length, is where the focus of this orbiting telescope is at. For 11 days. And it came back with a one-inch by one-inch...

Travis Barker of Blink 182 stopped by the Kevin and Bean show on KROQ to talk about Musink, the band's issues with Tom DeLonge, and more. That can be heard here.
“I juggle a lot of things outside of Blink. I record with tons of different artists, and I always seem to still know how to prioritize Blink. I still love Blink and it’s my #1 priority over everything that I do. But it’s like when you don’t have the same passion to make that your priority as well, it makes it hard to come together as 3 people when one person doesn’t care about it.”

Serious question: How did this article get printed in The Atlantic? Of all the Blink-182 think pieces that came out over the last few days (Grantland's is pretty good), this one takes the cake as the strangest.
The truly gutting thing about the situation is that—say it aint so—we might be witnessing the break-up of one of the greatest gay love stories in American culture. Okay, kidding. Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker are not, as far as the public knows, gay. All of them have been married to women. But there have definitely been times when they pretended to be something other than strictly heterosexual.

Alternative Press has talked with Mark Hoppus of Blink-182.
We haven’t played a show with Matt yet, so it’s too soon to really say what goes beyond on that. We’re very optimistic and excited about the possibilities of continuing with Matt in some way. He’s a good friend, a great guitarist, a great singer. He has a really positive attitude. I think we’ve been friends for, what, 15 years? We don’t have anything booked beyond that, but we are hopeful and excited.

Tom DeLonge has posted a statement on Facebook. The full thing is in the replies.
And even as I watch them act so different to what I know of them to be, I still care deeply for them. Like brothers, and like old friends. But our relationship got poisoned yesterday. Never planned on quitting, just find it hard as hell to commit.

The more news that comes out regarding this Blink-182 stuff, the more painful it gets to post about it. Last night Tom DeLonge posted on Twitter that "A year ago Mark and I spent a week on the phone with managers debating parting with Travis...don't pretend there isn't more to this story" -- that tweet has since been deleted. I'm trying to think of something to bring positivity to this situation but am drawing a blank. I guess ... rank some stuff or something. As I wrote on Facebook yesterday, one of the things that first drew me to this band was that it seemed like they were all friends just having fun together and playing crappy punk rock music. That carefree attitude was what I wished...

Rolling Stone has talked with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker of Blink 182.
We're booked January 5th to go into the studio. On December 30th, we get an e-mail from Tom's manager saying that he has no interest in recording and that he wants to do his other, non-musical stuff and that he's out indefinitely. There's a flurry of e-mails going back and forth for clarification about the recording and the show and his manager sends [an e-mail] back saying, "Tom. Is. Out." Direct quote. This is the exact same e-mail we got back in 2004 when Tom went on indefinite hiatus before.

Another Update: We have received the following statement from Tom DeLonge's publicist.
Contrary to reports, Tom DeLonge has not left Blink 182. “I never quit the band,” he says. “Actually, I was on the phone discussing a possible Blink-182 event in New York City when I heard the ‘news.’ The ONLY truth here is that I have commitments that limit my availability this year.

I love Blink-182 and I’m not leaving.”

Tom DeLonge has talked with NME, and says Blink-182 have "solved the puzzle" for how to release their new album.
"We've just started the conversation in the past couple of days of when/where and how to start recording," he said. "We've been kind of taking our time trying to figure out the best way to put the record out, you know. I think we just solved that puzzle a couple of weeks ago. I don’t think we have anything to prove. I think we have to just try and go into it and try to make the best album of our career and create a situation that’s really creative and conducive to that idea"
Jason Tate on 12/23/14 - 01:58 PM
Tom DeLonge recently talked with Gigwise.
I’m not totally sure how it’s going to work but the goal is to find an area or an environment that’s different and not just a normal studio to be together as were architect the songs and inspire each other in ways that we did back in that timeframe. I think if we can pull off those few things we’ll be in really really good shape. We’ve always done what we liked, and on the Untitled record there was a lot of debate where we thought our fans wouldn’t even like it, but I think we succeeded by sticking to what we wanted to do, and it turned out to be the one that the fans like the most.
