The problem with scheduling things at SXSW (or, rather, making a schedule that you "have" to follow) is that, inevitably, things will happen which totally screw with everything. In my case, it was A) losing my schedule somehow so I had no idea what parties/showcases were where and B) having my phone die, which totally screws everything up. Somewhere, somebody in Austin has my schedule.

In the beginning of the day, all was fine, as I went to check out Lykke Li, who is Sweden's hottest export as of now. She has this one song "Little Bit" which has been taking the industry's ears by storm and the performance was pretty spot on, although her other songs that she performed were not as...

You can read my blog about Day 1 of SXSW here

There's a high possibility that these updates will become slightly more delirious and more filled with rambling than actual sentences in the next couple of days, as I'm sitting in bed here and running on another night of very little sleep. Just fair warning, you know. There are two things right now that are my biggest assets, and that would be the gel insoles I bought before I came (they do wonders, really) because I knew I'd be walking around a ton, and packets of Emergen-C. It's amazing what a packet of Emergen-C will do in the mornings, and I swear I'm not being sponsored by them (although if somebody from Emergen-C is currently...

I'm currently in Austin, TX for SXSW and, as in the past couple years, I'm doing daily updates of the shows that I catch and things like that. Here's Day 1, with more to follow of course. Greg Dona is also in SXSW and should be doing updates as well.

This is my third year here at SXSW and things are a bit different this time - for the first time, I finally have a badge (so I can go to all of the official showcases and panels now), and I finally have a hotel room in downtown Austin. What isn't different, however, is the jampacked list of parties and shows that start even before the music portion of SXSW even officially starts, which was yesterday the 12th. My flight left LA at 6:50...

Underoath will be going into the studio next month to record the follow-up to Define the Great Line.
Message From the BandSo we're less than a month away from going into the studio! It feels just like it was yesterday when we recorded Define the Great Line. I'm having a lot of fun writing this record. It's one of our heaviest things we've ever done, and at the same time really experimental. A few months ago I felt like this record would be the least we've changed in a while. It seemed that for the first time we were going into a record we hadn't been dissatisfied with our previous effort, and therein had no predisposition toward alienating ourselves from it. I look back at Define the...

Underoath have given an update about their upcoming album.
UpdateMan it's been a while since I posted on here. So much has happened since our last tour ended. As many of you may know we shot a film about our last US tour. We get to watch the first edit this week and I'm so excited! We had a three man film crew follow our bus the entire tour. They shot 70-80 hours of footage in about 6 weeks. That's like 4800 minutes! We only need 90, so the past few months have been spent sifting through each and every frame, trimming the fat and letting Ryan (director/editor) tell the story of Underoath and our tour. We also shot a live show in Philly at the Electric Factory and we're going to have a...

Senses Fail have updated their blog regarding new songs.
Update If you've been keeping up with our blogs on myspace and sensesfail.com, you know we've been writing and recording demos in the basement. Well, we have 8 songs completed and recorded and we are all extremely happy with them. I could sit here all day and describe what they sound like, but then I'd sound like that butt-hole who compares every part of one song to 40 different bands and music-styles. Nope, instead I'm just going to tell you that it sounds like we keep getting better at what we do: Riffs, guitar solos, vocal hooks and retarded-esque drumming.

We've been filming the whole process, so expect to see some video...

Pierre of Simple Plan has posted a blog regarding the story behind one of the band's new songs "Save You."
From The BlogA little over two years ago my brother Jay started feeling sick... He thought nothing of it but after a while he realized that his condition wasn't improving and decided to consult a doctor. After some extensive tests he was informed that he had non-hodgkins lymphoma cancer. He had a tumor the size of a baseball in his lymph nodes near the pelvis area. The doctors told him his cancer was a stage 4 which is pretty bad but that this type of cancer was very treatable and that basically if you were to have cancer, this is the one you "want" since it is usually cured with...

Yellowcard has posted a myspace blog about their acoustic shows in the Middle East. You can read it below.
BlogThis past week has been quite an experience. Sean, Mendez, and myself travelled to the Middle East to perform for our service men and women stationed there. It was 19 hours of flying each way and we just got back today. While we were there we had been scheduled to play in Kuwait the first day and then head north into Iraq for the rest of the trip. At the last minute the President came in after his visit to Israel which made it impossible to get a flight north. All of the resources there were being used for security. So we made some changes and ended up playing the bases in and...

We have finished and recorded 14 songs for the album, but still have more ideas, so like i said before, us being us, have decided to write and record these. It means that the album probably wont be out till the summer, but also means that there may be better songs on it...haha. Or not though, cause the new ideas might be pants. Anyway, we are gonna write in Wales cause LA has done our heads in. We need a break from it and to get back to our roots. Male voice choirs all the way now boys.

Andy from Manchester Orchestra blogs about his thoughts on 2007.
Blog"i am going to make it through this year... if it kills me"

As we wrap up the last few shows of our tour here in the UK and for the entire year, i am overwhelmed with a sense of fulfillment. when our band looked at 2007 we made ourselves a promise, and that promise was to play 250 shows this year. Oddly looking up now, we have (somehow) done it. I think when we made that challenge to ourselves we had absolutely NO idea how much of a difficult, challenging, growing, and incredible experience it would actually be. We had no idea how many unbelievable people and friends we would meet along the way. How many new brothers...

Blog "...EVEN IF MY VOICE COMES BACK AGAIN..."

Hello world. I know I have spent so much time away from this page, and to those of you who are still checking it regularly, thank you for your patience. It's good to be back. To be honest, the past several months have been spiritually grueling, leaving little time to process much of anything other than music and the subjects that inspire it's creation. It's been a hard fought war for the album I am now referring to as "the glass passenger" and I have been reluctant to share too many details along the way, as it has been in constant evolution. The truth is, this record came with so many possible...

First EntryGood eve-- errr... morning, yall. I can't sleep. I'm stuck in a tour-induced time warp, meaning my hours of operation fall between 1 pm and 4-5 am. Its ridiculous. Since we hit home yesterday morning, I find myself killing time by watching Fresh Prince marathons and hitting up the diner for late-night pancakes (chocolate chip, please.) Despite my inability to get back into the swing of every day life, (the kind of life NOT lived on a tour bus) I've gotta say that it feels wonderful to be home.
