Philadelphia charity Chords For Cures has released a new compilation of local unsigned bands. Every month the charity throws a free show and collects donations for various causes.

This week on the Self Promotion Forum, I discovered an eighteen track compilation released by Chords For Cures. The compilation is 'name your price' on the organisations' Bandcamp, however all proceeds go to TACA (Talk About Curing Autism). The compilation is filled with fairly unknown bands, however there's something for everyone on here; whether it be the female fronted pop punk of Kick Back Tomorrow, the noodly emo of Those Galloping Hordes or the country rock of The Band Of Rivals. In the spirit of the holiday season and in light of the the recent tragedy in Newtown, CT, this week's Self Promotion Spotlight does not highlight a band, but rather a cause. Chords for Cures is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that books concerts, with all proceeds benefiting children's charities in and around the Philadelphia area. The company, which recently came off a three-year hiatus, has its first concert in four years on Dec. 21. For more information about the show, visit the Facebook page.
