So, tonight I had the privilege of interviewing Saosin and taking in their live show with Forgive Durden and others. Read on for my thoughts on the live show - interview should be up soon enough.
Saosin Show Mini-ReviewSo, tonight was the first time that I had ever seen Saosin live, either with or without Anthony. I was interested, but I chose to keep my standards low in case they could not meet my new infatuation with their record. Nevertheless, I was far from disappointed. If you are even remotely considering attending this show, do it. You will not regret it.

Saosin played 10 songs overall - the entire Translating the Name EP and 5 songs off the new album. The new songs they played...

On Wednesday night, I had the distinct pleasure of seeing Sub Pop Records' Rogue Wave open for The Stills here in Fort Lauderdale. About once a year, a band comes along and plays here that absolutely floors me. Last year, it was Jimmy Eat World's nearly two-hour headlining set, and this year it's shaping up to be the 12 songs/45 minutes that Rogue Wave played for. Playing a wide swath of songs from their 2005 release, Descended Like Vultures including "Publish My Love," "Bird on a Wire," "Love's Lost Guarantee," "California," and "You," the band turned the entire crowd into bona fide fans. With an electric live show that will make any self-respecting hipster weak at the knees, you owe it...

I had the opportunity to see ActionReaction open for the Armor For Sleep, Boys Night Out, and Chiodos show last night in Ft. Lauderdale. For those who haven't had a chance to hear them, it's Jason Gleason's (formerly of Further Seems Forever and Affinity) new band with Bella and Sal (formerly of Element 101). It's impossible to pigeonhole ActionReaction into one genre; they combine elements of just about every genre imaginable, even soul and blues. If you think their 7-song EP is mellow, seeing the songs live will show just how much energy the band puts into their live show. You would not believe they had played less than fifteen shows as a band. Jason Gleason gave possibly the best...
