We lost David Bowie within the past 24 hours and as someone who has never really known a life without him, I had to get some form of thoughts down. Incoherent and clumsy, yes - but feel free to read them and share your memories, favourite songs, videos, live performances...whatever of Bowie in the replies.
Someone who is unashamedly true to themselves and never frightened of expressing or exploring any avenue in their mind or personality is left with nothing but a lack of barriers and a plethora of possibilities. David Bowie lived by less of a “why?” and more of a “how?” construct, which is what sits at the core of everything that made him such a genius to many.

Tony Visconti recently sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss David Bowie's forthcoming album ★ (pronounced Blackstar) and how they were heavily influenced by Kendrick Lamar, that it features James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and a jazz quartet fronted by Donny McCaslin helped the process. Watch the video for the title track in the replies.
"We were listening to a lot of Kendrick Lamar. We wound up with nothing like that, but we loved the fact Kendrick was so open-minded and he didn’t do a straight-up hip-hop record. He threw everything on there, and that’s exactly what we wanted to do. The goal, in many, many ways, was to avoid rock & roll."

Tony Visconti, the producer of the forthcoming David Bowie album The Next Day, recently spoke to BBC news about the record and stated that it's a "rock album" with the first single "Where Are We Now?" being one of the "slowest" and "most reflective" songs on the album.
From The Interview"It's the only track on the album that goes this much inward for him. It's quite a rock album, the rest of the songs, so I thought to myself why is David coming out with this very slow, albeit beautiful, ballad why is he doing this? He should come out with a bang. But he is a master of his own life. I think this was a very smart move, linking the past with the future, and I think the next thing you...
