Bring Me The Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes has responded to the recent murder plot incident.
QuoteI woke up to the news in LA, and didn’t really believe it at first. It's very unsettling. I'm aware that people have used my identity for pranks and whatever, which has always been something that's been uncomfortable for me, but for something like this to happen is terrifying. My heart goes out to Maricar and hope she recovers soon. I would also urge anyone using social networking sites about a really great foundation called the Carly Ryan foundation. Carly suffered a fate worse even worse than this case but the story isn’t worlds apart. The foundation was set up to raise awareness and educate...

The organizer of Sound Fest has issued a statement explaining its lack of success. The Seattle-based event concerned a number of big name punk bands not getting paid.
Quote"We didn’t have enough cash to pay the bands. Its that simple…. When we started putting this together we had our many doubts. We didn’t know if we would be able to cover all of our expenses, but we were confident that people would turn out for our event. I know that sounds a bit naïve and it definitely was on our part, but before we come off like a bunch of ignorant fools I’d like to mention that we still took precautions and looked into loans, which we were able to get from some AMAZING individuals. The problem...

A British man has been accused of pretending to be Bring Me The Horizon singer Oliver Sykes, luring an American teen to Britain, and then attempting to murder her.
Quote from Daily MailDavid Russell, 20, of Northampton "pretended to be a rock star to seduce an American woman he met on Facebook before slitting her throat and repeatedly stabbing her." Russell has been jailed for life for the kidnap and attempted murder of Maricar Benedicto, of California. During sentencing, Judge Charles Wide QC stated that Russell was "'exceptionally dangerous' and had left his victim with lasting physical and psychological injuries."

Shit hit the fan at the Bring Me the Horizon concert last night. While full details remain sketchy, at best, here's what we know: last night during their set, the band, while on stage, fought with a group of "straight-edge members" of the crowd. A variety of videos have appeared online (they're in the replies). The lead singer of the band has posted his version of the events on his blog. Anyone at the show?
Blog PostJust to clear any rumours… Nothing happened last night apart from a bunch of soft lads stomped on a lil kids head 5 seconds into our set, so we stopped playing, had a bit of a banter with em telling em to do one, then some fatty gets on stage tries to hit me, in which...

The Seattle Weekly reports that some bands still haven't been paid in full a month later for performing at Sound Fest, which featured Broadway Calls, Lucero, Jello Biafra and many, many more.
Quote"To fans who attended, the event went off smoothly, but behind the scenes it was a different story, almost from the beginning. When word of Sound Fest made its way to Shawn Stern, founder of punk stalwarts Youth Brigade and the organizer of the annual Punk Rock Bowling Tournament in Las Vegas, he sent an e-mail to bands and agents warning them against playing. 'After witnessing his disastrous attempts at promoting concerts around L.A.,' he said of promoter Lou Medrano, 'my friends and I...

Quote"The entertainment industry is a microcosm of the people in this doomed nation: hard-hearted, hell-bound, and hedonistic. These people have a platform and should be using it to encourage obedience to God; instead they teach every person who will listen all things contrary to him: fornication, adultery, idolatry, f*gs." - Fred Phelps

GLAAD is not a fan of Tyler, the Creator winning a VMA, noting that his Goblin release contains over 213 anti-gay slurs. They also vow to monitor his lyrics from this point forward. Thoughts?
Quote“Rather than providing simply a larger platform, MTV and other networks should educate viewers about why anti-gay and misogynistic language has no place in the music industry today. Given Tyler’s history of such remarks, viewers and potential sponsors should refrain from honoring homophobia and in the future look to a more deserving artist.” - Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs

Steve Albini (producer and member of Shellac) recently wrote about an unpleasant encounter he had with the members of Odd Future.
ClipMy band shared an airport shuttle with them in Barcelona. They piled onto the shuttle late, after finally getting corralled by their minder, who was nursing a head wound with an ice bag wrapped in a towel. They piled in, n*****ing everything in sight, motherf***ing the driver, boasting into the air unbidden about getting their d**** sucked and calling everyone in the area a f*****.

Living With Lions' new record, Holy Shit, has caused some controversy due to the album artwork and because it was indirectly supported by the Canadian government through FACTOR.
From the Article“The content of this CD is offensive and the fact that it is clearly designed to offend a group of Canadians based on their faith is simply wrong,” James Maunder, Moore’s spokesman, said in a statement sent to The Vancouver Sun. “The Minister has called Duncan McKie, president and CEO of FACTOR to express his profound disappointment with this content.”

Michael Shea also known as "MIKL" of BrokeNCYDE has responded in an interview about the fight against Corey Muro (Punchline) that occurred a few nights ago. I hope everyone enjoys the irony.
From The InterviewMuro stood there and said, “I've been playing music way longer than any of you!”, “You're not real musician!” and “Quit music. Remember Punchline!” He just kept yelling. We've dealt with this since we've started, so we're used to it. But when they started to disrespect a girl and us as people, it changed everything.
