In this day and age, there is an abundance of music to choose from, in literally any genre, for music fans. In my experience, this has been a blessing and a curse at the same time -- finding new artists to truly connect to is an indescribable feeling, but one that has ceased to be special as it used to be by the sheer fact that there is so much wonderful music to explore. However, once in a while, an artist comes by who makes a lasting impression because their music simply blows you away. And that's exactly what happened when I first heard East Forest's music: I felt the same overwhelming feeling that few similar artists, such as Balmorhea and The Album Leaf, made me feel years ago. And...

In conjunction with today's Thursday Discussion about summer songs, the AP.net Staff has assembled a feature of 26 bands we think you should check out on this year's Warped Tour. The tour kicks off this week in Salt Lake City and will snake around North America for about two months, so whichever date you go to, check out some of the bands we've listed below if you're unsure of who to watch! Take to the replies to discuss who you're excited to watch this year and how you think this year's lineup compares to recent Warped Tours.
Thomas Nassiff on 06/14/12 - 12:26 PM
Between the ups and downs of touring, singer/songwriter Koji has remained characteristically positive about the rather busy and tumultuous year 2012 has given him so far. Head here to read about what he considers his best year to date, including tapings for Spring Song Vol. 2, anticipation for this year's Warped Tour and his reflections on the support he received in response to being robbed prior to his tour with Never Shout Never.

If you've been keeping track, you may have remembered that I asked for a few questions about Code Orange Kids a few weeks back. The answers to a handful of those questions, along with a nifty feature on the band entitled Age is Just a Number, can be found here. If you're looking for some info on the band's signing to Deathwish, their forthcoming LP for said label or just how much this band loves wrestling, be sure to give it a read.

This year we reached out to some of our favorite bands and got some feedback for the new run of Absolute Beginnings. We decided to revise a classic feature and share with you the roots of why we do what we do. Head here to see the second run of Absolute Beginnings. You didn't think we wouldn't add something new to it this time around, did you? Be sure to check back tomorrow to read up on some of your favorite artists' picks as well.

Burned out on the Blink-182 or Saves the Day classics? We can all be sometimes, which is why a few staffers spent the last couple of days putting together a list of 20 Essential Lesser Known Pop-punk Bands to Know. The goal? To help introduce AP.net to new pop-punk. Of course, we don't pretend to have covered all of them, so hit the replies to see the list, and throw in your own recommendations if you've got some!

Just a reminder that I'll be taking submissions for this year's Absolute Photog feature through the week. Deadline is this Sunday at midnight. Guidelines are simple: Send up to three pictures you've taken at shows this year along with who is in the photo, your name and your user name (if you have one) and the venue/date it was shot to absolutepunk.photos@gmail.com. I'll be shuffling through them next week and getting the chosen ones out the last week of the year. I've gotten double the submissions this year so far, and some amazing ones at that. Thank you all again.
Adam Pfleider on 12/13/10 - 12:47 PM
I will be putting together our second annual AbsolutePhotog this year. Real simple: Send me your best live photos taken anytime this year to absolutepunk.photos@gmail.com. Remember: I need the name of the band/band member, date it was shot and the venue/state for each photo submitted. Limit to three entries. I will be accepting entries up until the 23rd. Please include your name and user name (if you have one).

This month, we'll be featuring interviews with bands, distributors and the inside men/women of the music trenches as they discuss the current industry of marketing, touring, digital distribution and trying to plug those Internet leaks. Today's interview comes from Such Gold, who recently had their new album leak in an un-mastered, un-mixed format. Head here to see what they had to say.
Adam Pfleider on 11/02/10 - 10:58 AM
Here we are at the end of this month's feature. Here's a few more labels worth checking out. It's been a great year of music, and we shouldn't forget the work put in by the labels and communities that support those audible files and get them out there to us. Who did we miss? What labels do we need to pay more attention to? Hit the replies and let us and the community know. We hope you found some new homes and tunes this month.
Adam Pfleider on 10/29/10 - 11:17 AM
We've got three more labels we think you should be putting your ear to. Hit the replies and show some love, but also let us know what labels we should be looking at that we may have overlooked.
Adam Pfleider on 10/21/10 - 09:56 AM
Be sure to check out the second batch of labels we think you should be paying attention to at the moment. Head here and let us know what you think and what labels you're digging lately.
Adam Pfleider on 10/14/10 - 10:16 AM
This month, the staff has compiled a list of "fresher" record labels we wished to showcase to the world. Head here to see the first three, and be sure to check back every week this month to gain some insight and hear some great music from our choices. Let us know what you think and what labels you're really excited about at the moment.
Adam Pfleider on 10/06/10 - 10:44 AM
Man, what a six months it has been. I've certainly changed around my list a few times before deciding on my top ten, and I can somewhat say the same for the rest of the staff. It has been quite a year of great music thus far, and we haven't even received a new Glassjaw album yet. Seriously, can we get that already? Anyway, head here to see our staff picks for the halfway point, and then hit the replies to tell us what you've been bumping in your stereo for your parents, friends and carpools to work.
Adam Pfleider on 06/29/10 - 09:20 AM
Check out our inductees for this year's Absolute Classics. This year's list is not only spread out across a few decades, but also branches out across many different soundscapes and influences. Hit the replies and let us know what you think of our choices and which ones need to make the list in the year's to come.
Adam Pfleider on 05/17/10 - 10:02 AM
The war is still raging. The music industry of the old is fucked, and they've been since the beginning of the decade. Oh, the glorious .mp3. But, somewhat miraculously, good music manages to wiggle through the corporate bullshit and desperate measures. There are self-released forces of nature, new bands with mind-blowing masterpieces, and an off-the-main-path Internet community that grows bigger with each messageboard post. This decade was ours for the taking, and we took it.

Before you embark on the staff of AP.net's Top Albums of the Decade, there are a couple things you should know. We've recognized how impossible it would be to compile an entire staff list because 1) we're all too...

Julia Conny on 08/17/08 - 09:50 AM

Happy Halloween! We hope that you enjoy your day of dressing up (or being too cool to dress up). We all know that many bands like to take part in Halloween festivities so we solicited favorite memories from bands in costume. You can find it here: An AP Halloween: Goblins, Ghouls, and Guyliner. Enjoy the pictures from your favorite bands and remember not to eat too much candy...you won't be able to fit into those girl jeans.

You know those sweet write-ups Thrice has done for each song on their past couple albums? Well, we got Joel of The Working Title to do a similar thing for his band's new record, about-face - make sure to check that out (it's really cool, I promise) on the band's AP.net profile, where you can also stream the new album in its entirety. about-face hits stores on Tuesday and comes highly recommended by me.

Tommorow I will be heading into the studio with This Providence to take some pictures of them recording their new album with producer Casey Bates, to be released late this summer on Fueled by Ramen Records. I will be putting together a feature article much like I did this past summer for the Warped Tour. Expect the feature to be posted this weekend. Please let me know in the comments if there's anything specific you'd like me to cover while there.
