The guitarist for As I Lay Dying, Phil Sgrosso, has posted a response to the post released on the band's website earlier today.
This morning an update was posted over at www.asilaydying.com on the current happenings and individual futures of all the bands' members. For Jordan, Josh, Nick, Phil, management, and record label, this was an interesting first time read as all parties were oblivious to its construction, intent, and release.

Though Tim is the only one with access to the As I Lay Dying site, the rest of us have been releasing content through our personal social media accounts to reveal that we are carrying on in a new band. Our truest intentions were to make this unveiling...

The Beastie Boys finally settled their lawsuit with GoldieBlox (the toy company that parodied their song "Girls" in a viral ad).
The settlement will include an apology from GoldieBlox, to be displayed on the company's website, as well as donation by GoldieBlox to charities selected by the Beastie Boys that encourage science, technology, engineering and mathematics education for girls.

After the whole "boycotting Spotify" thing, Forbes took a look at the math behind Spotify royalties and came to the conclusion that they're better than terrestrial radio -- in fact about 16 times better. They also get a little cynical at the news that Thom and Atoms for Peace have helped launch a new live music streaming service just a few days after criticising Spotify, but I'm more interested in if we should be comparing streaming services to radio plays or purchased rates. Given that you don't "own" the music you stream, I'm more inclined to side with the idea that it's closer to a radio play (and should be compensated as such), but I think those rates need to be higher as well....

Yesterday Jeremy took over the Thursday Discussion reigns with his "great sophomore album" piece, today our pal Zack tackled his own version of the question over on POZ.com, so, if you missed it - make sure you add your own.

We Are the In Crowd answered an interview question about the infamous "creative control" tweets.
From the InterviewTay: Yeah. We haven’t really talked about this at all. Basically, there was a decision that was made for “Kiss Me Again” that wasn’t a make or break decision, but it was something where we wanted it one way, and somebody at the label wanted it the other way. It kind of burned a little bit hearing, “Nope, it’s not going to happen.” For me it was just a spur of the moment, “This is bullshit” kind of thing. I’m over it. I’m definitely over it.
Jordan: A lot of the Internet thinks that because we’re a pop band that we don’t write our own songs or there’s someone...

Invisible Children have posted a message from Jason Russell's wife after the events of last week.
From the BlogThank you to those who continue to support both us, and Invisible Children. The organization is an extension of our family, and we hope that Jason’s vision and work toward peace in the region remains the focus, and comes as soon as possible, as they continue to work in his absence. We would, again, like to make it clear that Jason’s incident was in no way the result of drugs or alcohol. The preliminary diagnosis he received is called brief reactive psychosis, an acute state brought on by the extreme exhaustion, stress and dehydration. Though new to us, the doctors say...

In a follow-up to a previous post about how Iraqi teenagers were being stoned to death for "emo" haircuts, a new article has been posted that goes into more depth about the Iraqi government's role in these activities.
From the ArticleThe new Iraq is full of contradictions. On the one hand, it has allowed space for kids to listen to Western music, and dress in new styles, because families now have the internet, are exposed to a plethora of media outlets, and have access to satellites and new televisions, which were limited in the past, because of international sanctions. At the same time, various Islamist groups have taken power, and their followers in the government and security...

Last night we tried out our first ever "live-blog" while the Grammys were going on. A few beers, a few snarky AP.net staff members, and a pretty amusing time, I thought, for everyone involved. Definitely something we'll be trying again in the future for big live events. The community is what makes this place special, different, and unique. With that, there's just a few follow-up thoughts I wanted to write about: At the end of the night, I don't think there was a doubt in anyone's mind that Adele flat out won the night. One of the best performances, cleaned up the awards, and was virtually universally praised. And yet, what I think went (unfortunately unnoticed) was that this was...
